Thank you for your wonderful presentation! We live in Cambria, California where the crocosmia grow wild and thanks to you we have a renewed appreciation for our Spring blooming bulbs. Ours are basicly orange and the blossoms are simple--not ornate. Cambria is forested with oak and pine trees and we overlook the ocean--an ideal climate for the bulbs to propogate--the deer don't eat them and the gophers ignore them. Thank you again for all your research and most of all for sharing. Best Regards, Faye

Hi, I live in Switzerland and first planted my crocosmia (not sure about variety, I am new in the game) last year in the autoumn. The plants were already flowering. This year, however, they grew up but no flowers at all. We had very wett and cold summer, could that be the reason? really appreciate any advise.

I live in San Francisco and work as a volunteer gardener in the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park. We have a small hillside bank of crocosmia, which was a plant new to me. They're orange, not sure yet which type, but I got to take home piles of them after thinning them out. I hope next year they'll bloom for me. Your website is lovely, and has made me curious about all the other varieties there are. Thank you!

Found your site while researching the best times to move my "Lucifers". I learned a great deal...thanks. They do very well here in Kentucky, even with our -0 degree winters, and 95 degree summers. The Ruby-throated hummingbirds absolutely love them and will perch on the flower stems while feeding. Wish I had a good photo to share. Your photos are beautiful!

I am just re-organising my garden and will be splitting several large clumps of crocosmia soon. Do you ever grow any from seed? I read the article in Amateur Gardening - I'm from Lincolnshire too. (Spilsby) Love your site

Hi Mark,
I found your site today after buying two crocosmias (Emberglow and George Davison) from my local garden centre. I was looking for some more info and advice and found everything I needed to know on your site. I got to love crocosmias after discovering them during my holidays in Scotland where they appear to grow anywhere in the countryside all by themselves. I will no doubt order some from you as there are several others I would like. Thank you for an excellent website.

Hello, Thanks for letting me visit your lovely garden and stunning crocosmia collection. You will be pleased to know that the lovely "Lord Nelson" which I bought from you is thriving and clumping up beautifully. It’s a beautiful deep red-orange and glows in the late summer sun. I hope to visit you on one of your open days to add more crocosmia to my collection. That's if I can fit any more in. I am surrounded by Dierama's. Can't complain, they are beautiful too. I will bring one as a gift to you when I next visit.
Good luck with the open days.
Thank you for your help and advice. From a fellow Lincolnshire plant addict.

Excellent web-site. I grow a few Crocosmia in the garden and have a copy of the book about the species published in 2004/5 approx. Some grow really well in the garden others less so, my lack of skill! Will try splitting clumps but suspect neighbours conifers. Like the idea of growing in patio pots will give it a go - which compost do you recommend? Will not include photo only useful for scaring babies! Cheers
