Family History
Alexander Campbell was born aproximately 1765, perhaps earlier, in Killearnan, Ross & Cromarty. Alexander married Helen MacEntosh.
Their son John Campbell, born in Killearnan, or Knockbain, married Anne (Annie) McDonald and they lived at Croftnacreich, Killearnan, Ross & Cromarty from at least 1841 until John's death 12 Dec 1870 at Croftnacreich.
John and Annie had at least six children. Helen, Isabella, Donald, Roderick, Anne and James Campbell. Most of these children are noted as having been born in Knockbain, Ross & Cromarty.
Annie Campbell (McDonald) continued to live at, her croft, Croftnacreich with son Alexander and his wife, Mary McKenzie, and young Simon Paterson, until her death which may have been in the 1880's.
Alexander's (junior), wife Mary appears to have died aproximately same decade as Annie. It would appear that Alexander and Mary had no children.
In 1881 census we find Alexander living at Croftnacreich, his croft, on his own.
