Rory William Shortall Dougherty

Dougherty. -  Rory Willaim Shortall  of Lake Hawea - Died during birth, on September the 5th 2011,  Precious little son of Paula and Greg - Brother of Maggie, James and Sarah.  Grandson of Margaret and Perry Shortall and Carol and Lawrence Dougherty  -  We held our wee boys graveside service on September the 6th 2011 at the Hawea Cemetry.

" A life is not measured by the amount of breaths we take,
But rather by the  moments that take our breath away"
        

You broke our hearts that day in September Rory William our beautiful wee boy xxx

From Waiheke Island to Garrawaye Farm to visit the original home of Sarah and Charles Dougherty

Cindy McGuire nee Tohill on the doorstep of her Great Grandparents Sarah and Charles Dougherty's house. Her Grandmother is Sarah Tohill daughter of Sarah and Charles Dougherty and her Father is Charles Tohill son of Sarah Tohill nee Dougherty.

Cindy McGuire from Waiheke Island came down to Central Otago to cycle the rail trail, so while in Ranfurly Lawrence Dougherty met her and her husband and took them for a wee tiki tour to Garrawaye Farm and the Dougherty Homeplace. Is wonderful that family want to visit their roots.

Jeremy son of Sue and Richard Evans married Kelly Rolf recently in Palmerston North.

New Baby

Zac Riley Spedderi Dougherty. New baby son for Stacey Weir and Paul Dougherty. Paul is the great great grandson of James and Bridget Spedderi.

Kerry & Dusty Wed in Methven.

Kerry and Simon (Dusty) Campbell were recently married in Methven with their baby daughter Sam as flowergirl. Kerry is the daughter of Karen nee Dougherty and Jim Roughan of Lawrence.

Victoria Lee Dougherty turns 21.

Tory receiving the key of the door from her Dad Larry Dougherty. The key had been given to her Mum Debbie when she had turned 21 by her Dad Bill Anderson. Tory is granddaughter of Carol & Lawrence. Leo and Eileen's great grandchild, Tory was born on Her Great Grandmother Eileen's birthday 15th December.

The christening gown of Leo Charles Spedderi was worn recently by his Great Granddaughter Samanth Grace at her christening.  Sam is the daughter of Kerry Roughan and Simon Campbell.  Kerry is the daughter of Karen nee Dougherty and Jim Roughan from Lawrence.

James Marshall son of Jane Butel & Simon Marshall grandson of Rena (Evans) and Ivan Butel from Gore very proud of his achievement award. (James was born on Great Grandmother Annie Evans nee Griffiths birthday 21st June).

Hunting and Fishing Store opening

Larry had the big opening of his Hunting and Fishing Store in Cromwell on Friday evening  12/11/2010 . Drinks and food were turned on for guests and customers. The store is at 7 Iles Street  next to Nichols Garden Centre.

We have lots of family members living in Christchurch. Thank God you are all safe.

Michael Wynn-Williams flew to New Zealand especially for the practical tuturial introducing the latest surgical techniques, instruments and offering pearls of wisdom to other gynaecologists.  He performed two complex keyhole surgeries at the hospital and projected images from the laparoscope were projected to the television in the hospitals conference room where 15 specialists watched and listened to his commentary.  Dr. Wynn-Williams originally from Christchurch regularly performs complex surgeries at his private practice in Brisbane. He receives referrals throughout Queensland and the sheer number of surgeries has allowed him to develop specialist skills and become a leading expert in his field.  Michael is the husband of Clare O'Malley daughter of Pat and Leonie (nee Dougherty) O'Malley formally of Waiau North Canterbury. They have two sons Charlie and Thomas great grandsons of Leo and Eileen Dougherty.

Brisbane gynaecologist Michael Wynn-Williams shared his knowledge with specialists from all over the country.

Special Olympics

 Matt Aitken son of Jan nee Dougherty (daughter of Anne and Bernard Dougherty) and Graeme Aitken Dunedin,has been selected in Special Olympics New Zealand's first athlete leadership programme. It is designed to help athletes explore opportunities in new roles such as serving on the board of directors or local organising committees. They could even be spokespersons, team captains, coaches or officials.
Matt (18), a pupil at Otago Boys' High School, faced a gruelling interview for 45 minutes from a knowledgeable panel before he was selected for the programme. He impressed New Zealand Special Olympics chief executive
The programme provides workshops and training for athletes to learn skills that allow them to speak for themselves and others with intellectual disability.
Matt is one of the best-performed Special Olympic athletes in Otago and has won nine medals in national events.
At the New Zealand Special Olympics at Palmerston North last year, Matt was second in the 400m (1min 13.96sec) and third in the shot put (7.32m).
Matt Aitken holds the medals he won at the New Zealand secondary schools championships last December.

New Zealand Saddle Bronc Champion.

 Simon Roughan son of Karen (Dougherty) and Jim, won the New Zealand Saddle Bronc title at the NZ Rodeo Finals last Saturday night  in Fielding.  Karen and Jim were there supporting Simon  as were  Simon's Uncle Bernard Dougherty his wife Sandy and cousin Brooke also a couple of other guys from the Lawrence rodeo club.   Imagine how proud Simons Grandfather Leo Dougherty would have been.

This is quite cool, Rex was my great grandad, Bryan Griffiths was my grandad. Uncle Dave has done a family tree too which is really amazing to read.
