May 8, 2009 - Cali gave birth to 3 beautiful girls by C-Section. Purple puppy weighed in at 19.2 ounces. Turquoise puppy weighed 21.3 ounces. Orange puppy weighed in at 21.8 ounces. Only a few hours old, they had learned how to climb out of their warming box.
May 15, 2009 - The kids are thriving. Purple now weighs 40.4 ounces; Turquoise weighs 41.6 ounces and Orange weighs 44.4 ounces. They are learning to bark & when they are awake never seem to stay still. Cali is being a real good mom to these 3. She is very protective of them & is not too crazy when I work with them. All of them appear to have red faces. This is due to her being shaved for the C-section. But it is very hard to get pictures without the redness since they all like to eat ALOT!!
May 18, 2009 - We have eyes open!! Actually Turquoise's eyes opened yesterday. She was also the first to escape the whelping box too. All 3 have beautiful eyes & it is so exciting to actually see them. They are also starting to walk and not scoot. It won't be long before I have them chasing that dumbell!!
May 22, 2009 - Cali's little girls turned 2 weeks old today. I'm constantly amazed how much they've changed in 2 weeks. They are responding to movement and sound & are trying to walk. Purple even "took" the little dumbell I bought them!! Now it I could only get them to sleep all night ...
May 24, 2009 - We have teeth!! Turquoise has all her top teeth & her K9 teeth on the bottom. Purple & Orange each have their K9's. The rest are starting to erupt.
May 31, 2009 - The puppies are growing in leaps & bounds & each is developing their own little personalities. They are starting to play with one another & each can be very vocal. Orange keeps trying to escape the whelping box, but hasn't quite made it.
June 7, 2009 - The puppies are now 4 weeks old. It's hard to believe that just a few short weeks ago, they couldn't see or hear. They are playing with one another & love to chew our toes, eyes, fingers - anything they can get their mouths on. They've outgrown the whelping box & are in an x-pen at night. During the day, they are in our kitchen. They have a lot of room to play. They've also atarted to eat semi-solid food. Neighbors and friends are constantly stopping over, so the little ones are used to being handled.
June 15, 2009 - The puppies celebrated their 5th week birthday on Friday. They are doing very well. Cali has started the weaning process & the girls are doing real well with transitioning over to real food. The weather has been so nice, that the girls made their debut in the backyard today. They loved it!! They were a little apprehensive at first, but it wasn't long before they started running all over the pen.
June 21, 2009 - The puppies are now 6 weeks old. Blue & Purple have mastered going up the steps but not down at this stage. They are quite comical to watch. Each are developing their own personalities. Blue shows no fear. She will take a bone away from our 8 year old without batting an eyelash. She will also run buy & bite him in the butt. Purple & Orange treat Kobi with a little more respect. If Purple or Orange want a bone or a toy, they will simply climb into the toy box & take one. All 3 are learning how to sit in front & each are working on heeling with their heads up.
June 25, 2009 My trainers came down today to administer their temperment testing. All 3 did very well. Blue (now known as Mysti) scored mostly 3's except in retrieving where she did not want to give it back. Purple also received mostly 3's and 4's. Orange was a little more shy. It took her a little longer to acclimate herself to a new room. None of the pups were afraid strange people, of being picked up or touched.
July 4, 2009 The puppies are finally 8 weeks old. Purple & Orange will be going home this weekend. Susan came down from Massachusetts to meet her pup on Saturday. Pagey, aka Purple, will be going home on Sunday. Grayce, aka Orange, met her mom & dad also on Sunday. She made the trip to her new home in Michigan on the lap of their granddaughter, Cheyenne. Our house has gotten very quiet but Mysti is keeping us very busy. We will miss the other 2, but I know they will be loved & quite happy in their new homes.
November 8, 2009 The girls are now 6 months old!! Where has the time gone? Mysti is almost as tall as her mom & weighs 49 pounds. Pagey (now known as Page) is a very athletic 42 pounds. I am very proud of all of them.
