Michael H. Faulkner & Michael Rawlings

Michael Faulkner is the heart of Woodspoint Farms.  Michael grew up in a dog show family and has led more than 250 goldens to their championships. He was a successful professional handler for many years, and is currently an AKC judge approved for breeds in five groups: toys, sporting, herding, working and hound.  He has judged Golden Retrievers and the Sporting group at Westminster Kennel Club.

While he sees himself primarily as an artist and a writer, Michael's life is divided among many interests.  His children's book, The Pearl Necklace, is the first in a mystery series featuring a Golden Retriever sleuth. This first book and many of Michael's paintings and drawings can be purchased on his new web site:

Michael's talent as an artist is evident in his paintings and drawings that are cherished by those lucky enough to have them. Commissioned work is available (if you beg enough!) to immortalize your dog.   His latest pencil drawing, which was introduced at the 2007 GRCA National Specialty, can be seen above.  Michael donated 50 % of the proceeds from this print to the Golden Retriever Foundation for cancer research.  This gracious venture raised over $900.00 in one night.

For the last four years Michael has been our MC for the Golden Retriever Foundation event, raising thousands of dollars to help our wonderful breed.  With the help and support of the "golden community" we continue to raise the bar of donations each year.

Michael shares his life in Center Cross, VA with life partner, Michael Rawlings.

Michael & Michele Leon

Monogram Golden Retrievers is the joy of Michael & Michele Leon.  Michael & Michele have been involved in the Golden Retriever breed since 1982.  They have shared their lives with some wonderful Goldens over the years.  One of these special dogs was Am Mex Can Ch. Sunjoies Shawn of Monogram SDHF, OS -- Shawn. He was one of the Top 5 Goldens for 1989-90-91. Shawn’s outstanding qualities exposed Michele to the ins and outs of the conformation show world and the secrets of “Golden” grooming.  They learned the dog show world together, and Michele soon found herself dabbling (for 7 years) in showing dogs as a professional handler. Michele had the good fortune to work and show for some of the top Golden kennels and breeders and to learn from some of the greatest Golden handlers of the past

Michael, when not playing with all of us, spends the majority of his time working for Phillips Medical Systems as a Modality Manager for General Imaging  His job keeps him very busy traveling throughout the Western US.

Along this journey they have not only been fortunate to meet countless lifelong friends, but also to be able to share with each other and their Golden family.  Goldens have, and will continue to be, a hobby that opens doors to wonderful blessings.

Patricia Vogel

Pat passed away suddenly on January 1st 2009.  Please visit our "Tribute" page.  Below is some history of Devoe and Pat.

For almost 30 years, Devoe Golden Retrievers has been nurtured by Patricia Vogel.  Her wealth of knowledge is truly remarkable.  She has competed in most venues of competition; whether it's field, tracking, obedience, or conformation she has done it all.  Since the mid 80's Pat has also been a volunteer in rescuing and re-homing Golden Retrievers for Heartland Rescue based in Tennessee.

In the early 1990s Pat and Michael F. imported a great dog from England by the name of Am.Ch.Westrose Happy Fellah, "Phillip". Phillip was one of the few imports that competed on both continents and was successful in finishing his American Championship.  He also made a significant contribution to the breed as an outstanding sire. Hopefully, we will see his puppies in the ring once again with the help of reproductive technology.

In 1988 Michael and Pat shared another special dog together.  Her name was BIS, BISS Am.Ch. Roshar Chimere.  "Shimmy" and Michael shined together. In 5 short months she finished the year as the number one bitch, owner handled.  Shimmy had multiple Best in Shows and Best in Specialty Show wins.
