Your help urgently needed. Elaine from Greys4Pets, and myself, Louise (Brisbane Valley Cat Rescue)combined resources to get a badly injured border collie cross to the Gatton Vet Clinic today. She's around 10 years old and her front leg was broken, she was placed in a cast to ease the pain then due to complications she had a elevated temperature caused by infection. The foot and part of the leg is gangrenous and the infection had begun to spread throughout her body. She's probably an ex working dog and she's a real fighter. We weren't going to give up unless she did, so her leg is being amputated tomorrow to save her life. I can't thank the Gatton Vet Clinic enough for all their help and obvious concern for this gorgeous dog, especially Mike Campbell and his wonderful and caring staff. They've given us a greatly reduced estimate for the cost of the operation. I'm hoping so very much that she pulls through and assuming that she will, she'll be coming back here to recuperate. Yes I know this is a cat rescue but what kind of person could turn their back on a dog with such a lovely spirit. She arrived here late last night and I don't think Jena left her side all night. Now that tells you what kind of a dog she is because as anyone who's been out to the shelter knows, Jena (border collie) thinks she's a cat and doesn't really like other dogs much. I'm hoping that I can find a sponsor for her while she's here waiting for her new home. If no home is found for her, then she'll live out her days roaming the shelter grounds and relaxing safe and secure under the shade of a tree . You can see that she's had a rough life because the difference between her and Jena, Jena being older, is extreme. Me thinks I may have spoiled Jena a tad. LOL
These photos were taken before her downward spiral began and additional photos will be added to the album hopefully tomorrow so you can see first hand, why the operation is necessary. Hopefully there will be before and after photo's after the op and she will come through without any complications.
