These are photographs of some thirty-plus of my pastel paintings, from my earliest efforts in mid 2004 through to the present.

The frame format for each the original paintings is 40 cms by 50 cms (about 16 ins by 20 ins). The paintings themselves are contained in mounts (passe-partout) with windows of 29 cms by 39 cms.  I do now have limited quantities of mounted and shrink-wrapped prints, in a smaller mount format of 30 cms by 40 cms (windows of 22.5 by 30 cms).  These are the 21 pictures marked with [P] after their titles. 
 
For the most part, my works focus on the lovely countryside of this corner of south-west France, that is to say, the Quercy region which lies between the Lot and the Garonne rivers, with Agen in the s.w. corner and Cahors in the n.e. corner.
 
A major inspiration continues to be the wealth of little chapels and small churches - many of them Romanesque, dating from the 11th through the 13th century.  Some exude a certain sadness, as they sit, seemingly deserted, like orphans, between the woodlands and the fields.  I have attempted to suggest this atmosphere of "tristesse" in some of the works.

They are also offered as "un hommage au patrimoine rural de notre petit coin".
