Hello everyone in Keighley.
I'm from New Zealand and I'm researching my family tree.
My great grandfather was JOHN EDWARD KEIGHLEY. He was born in Bradford in about 1869 and his occupation in 1913 is listed as miner. His father was William Keighley and his mother Mary Keighley nee Sunderland or Sutherland? I'm wondering if these names ring a bell for anyone in the Keighley area?
John Edward Keighley left England to live in Australia when he was 25 yrs old (1894). He went on to marry an Australian woman and they had 8 children, the youngest of whom was my grandmother.I have Keighley relations in Australia and NZ. I was surprised to find that Keighley is pronounced 'Keith-ley', as we have always said 'Key -ley' I guess the pronounciation got lost in the Australian translation!!!
I would be most grateful for any information anyone may have on the Keighley family.Did they originate from Keighley?
Your web site is wonderful!! I plan to visit Keighley one day!

Really enjoyed looking through the new bus section. Being a Keighley and district driver I think this section should generate a lot more interest to the site overall. Keep up the good work

While reading my husband's grandmothers travelogue from her european tour in 1911, I found that she visited her cousins' in Keighley. She mentions 3 places, Quarry House, Manor House and "Northdene". Her name was Louise Laycock and she was from S. Ontario, Canada. She also mentions lovely garden views over the Yorkshire Moors also a place referred to as Sunnybask or bank? I'm interested in knowing if any of these homes still exist. Ialso have photoes but I have to dig them up. Any info would be appreciated thank you.

My great-great grandparents, last name WIGGLESWORTH, lived in Keighley. My great grandmother, Maria Wigglesworth, and many (if not all) of her siblings were born there. I am looking for parish and/or civil records of Wigglesworth marriages. Also, I am looking for parish records or cemetery records of graves and/or gravestones that could identify the resting places for my relatives. The following are the names I am interested in researching: William Wigglesworth, dob 11/9/1835; Ann Leach Wigglesworth, dob 6/11/1837, dod 7/3/1895. They were married on 12/3/1853. Their children: Hannah Wigglesworth, dob 7/1/1855; Martha Wigglesworth, dob 7/11/1859; Sarahann Wigglesworth, dob 7/20/1861; Hugh Wigglesworth, dob 4/12/1863; Jane Wigglesworth, dob 5/31/1865; Eliza Wigglesworth, dob 10/30/1867; Maria Wigglesworth, dob 9/18/1869; Elizabeth Wigglesworth, dob 7/26/1871; John Wigglesworth, dob 11/17/1874; William Wigglesworth, dob 7/11/1876; James Wigglesworth, dob 12/20/1877; and Arthur Wigglesworth, dob 5/6/1880. I also wonder if anyone can give me any information on the death of Alfred Jarman; i.e., final resting place, cause of death, etc. I believe he was born about 1858 (perhaps NOT in the Keighley area) but apparently died in Keighley in 1883. There is a strong possibility that he was Sarahann Wigglesworth's husband. Thank you for anything you can provide me.
