GREAT BARRIER REEF

Turen med Quicksilver til Great Barrier Reef var en fantastisk oplevelse! Jeg sejlede med en stor katamaran fra Port Douglas ud til en permanent platform ved det ydre rev og tilbragte hele dagen der. Undervejs fortalte dykkerguiderne om de forskellige aktiviteter man kunne deltage i, bl. a. en tur i undervandsbåd, snorkelture og et introduktions dyk med flaske. Jeg havde købt et lille undervandskamera og startede med at snorkle rundt og tage billeder af det farverige rev og mange exotiske fisk. Og blev glædeligt overrasket over hvor flotte billederne blev! Efter en tur i undervandsbåden og en let frokost tog jeg mod til mig og prøvede et rigtigt dyk med flaske. Jeg var i en gruppe på bare 4 og vi fik først instrukser om hvordan vi skulle bruge iltmasken og hvilke signaler vi skulle bruge for at kommunikere under vandet. Vi øvede på lavt vand og så startede eventyret ned til 14 meters dybde i det facinerende koralrev. Vores dykkerguide Steve tog os med på en fantastisk rejse i revets undervandsverden og viste os de smukke anemonefisk, kæmpemuslinger på 1 meter der lukkede sig når man rørte ved dem, farverige fisk der lod sig kærtegne og de utroligt mange forskellige former revet har.

The trip with Quicksilver to the Great Barrier Reef was a fantastic experience. I sailed with a big catamaran from Port Douglas to a permanent platform on the outer reef and spent the whole day there. During the trip the dive instructors explained about the different activities you could do, for example a submarine ride, snorkeling, and an introductory scuba dive. I had bought a small underwater camera and started by snorkeling around taking photographs of the colorful reef and many exotic fish. And was pleasantly surprised by how good the photos came out! After a trip in the submarine and a light lunch I decided I was up for the introductory scuba dive. I was in a group of only 4 and first we were given instructions as to how the oxygen mask works and which signals to use to communicate under water. We practiced on shallow water and then started our adventure going down to 14 meters and exploring the fascinating coral reef. Our dive instructor Steve took us on a dream journey through the underwater world of the reef, showing us the beautiful anemone fish, huge shells 1 meter long that closed firmly on toughing them, colourful fish that let you caress them, and the many different shaped of the coral reef.

La excursión con Quicksilver a la Gran Barrera de Arrecifes fue una experiencia inolvidable. Navegamos a bordo de un gran catamaran desde Port Douglas hasta una plataforma permanente en el arrecife exterior y pasé todo el día allí. Durante el trayecto los instructores de buzo explicaban las actividades disponibles, como un viaje en submarino, buceo con tubo y también una introducción al submarinismo. Había comprado una pequeña camara aquática y empecé buceando con tubo sacando fotos del colorido arrecife y los muchos peces exóticos. ¡Y me llevé una grata sorpresa al ver lo bien que salieron las fotos! Tras un viaje en el submarino y un ligero almuerzo decidí probar bucear con botella. Eramos solo 4 en mi grupo y primero nos enseñaron como respirar con la máscara de oxígeno y que señas usar para comunicarnos bajo en agua. Luego practicamos a poca profundidad para en seguida emprender nuestra aventura bajando a 14 metros y explorando el facinante arrecife de coral. Nuestro instructor de buzo Steve nos llevó por un facinante viaje el en mundo subaquático del arrecife, enseñándonos los bellos peces de anemone, almejas enormes de un metro de largo que se cerraba al tocarlas, peces de mil colores que se dejaban acariciar, y las muchas formas distintas del coral.
