DK Fly fra Palma til Sydney via Madrid, Zürich & Singapore, godt 24 timers rejse i alt. Singapore Airlines helt i top:-) Ankomst Sydney kl 20:00 lokal tid. Blev hentet af Per som stod med et skilt, vi havde jo aldrig set hinanden før. Kort tur ned og se Opera Huset og Harbour Bridge inden vi kørte hjem til familien Grandjean-Thomsen i udkanten af Sydney.

UK Flight from Palma to Sydney via Madrid, Zürich & Singapore, about 24 hours total trip. Singapore Airlines were fab:-) Arrival Sydney at 8 pm local time. Got picked up by Per who carried a sign as we had never met. Short trip downtown to get my first sight of Harbour Bridge and the Opera House and then home to the Grandjean-Thomsen family on the outskirts of Sydney.

ES Vuelo de Palma a Sydney via Madrid, Zürich & Singapore, un total de 24 horas de viaje. Singapore Airlines un diez:-) Llegada a Sydney a las 8 de la tarde hora local. Vino a buscarme Per que llevaba un cartel ya que no nos habíamos visto nunca. Pasamos brevemente por el centro para ver la Opera House por primera vez y luego para casa de la familia Grandjean-Thomsen en las afueras de la ciudad.

DK Min første dag i Sydney. Jeg besøgte Darling Harbour hvor der var open air musikfestival, det imponerede Sydney Aquarium med lange undervandsgange med hajer m.m., det populære Paddy market hvor jeg kunne tingletangle, byens ældste kvarter The Rocks og var en tur med byens Monorail som blev bygget i forbindelse med Olympiaden. Per og jeg spiste en herlig frokost bestående af frityrestegte fisk i alle afskygninger på græsset ved det lokale fiskemarket ved havnen. Det blev tidligt mørkt, allerede 17:30 og jeg nåede lige ned at se Opera Huset og Harbour Bridge igen inden aftenskumringen.

UK My first day in Sydney. I strolled down the Darling Harbour where there was an open air festival going on, saw the impressive Sydney Aquarium with its long underwater tunels with sharks etc, went shopping at the popular Paddy market and also saw the old town called The Rock. I went on the new Monorail built for the Olympics and Per and I had a marvelous lunch at the local fish market sitting on the grass by the harbour. It got dark really early at 5:30 pm. and I just had time to pop down to the Opera House and Harbour Bridge again before dusk.

ES Mi primer día en Sydney. Di un paseo por Darling Harbour donde había un festival musical, visité el impresionante Sydney Aquarium con sus largos túneles subaquáticos con tiburones etc, hice las típicas compras turísticas en el mercado de Paddy y di una vuelta por el casco antiguo llamado The Rocks. También me monté en el Monorail que fue construido para las Olimpiadas. Per y yo almorzamos en el mercado de pesca, una copiosa comida de pescadito frito al aire libre. Oscurecía muy temprano a las 17:30 y tuve tiempo de ver de nuevo la Casa de la Opera y el Harbour Bridge antes del anochecer.

DK Dagen startede med et besøg i Den Danske Klub udenfor Sydney med Per og Yvonne som er medlemmer. Tuborg, snaps, sild, varm leverposteg, ahhh. Bagefter videre til Waratah Dyrepark, et af turens absolutte højdepunkter hvor jeg fik lejlighed til at klappe kænguruer og klø koalaer i lange baner - det rene paradis

UK We started the day with a visit to the Danish Club outside of Sydney with Per & Yvonne who are members. Funny to enjoy the Danish food & drinks so far from home! After that we went on to the Waratah Wildlife Park where I got the chance to feed cangaroos and pad koalas for hours - it was heaven

ES Empezamos el día con una visita al Club de Daneses Residentes con Per & Yvonne que son socios. Disfrutamos de la típica comida y bebida danesa y un grupo de jazz. Luego nos fuimos al Parque Waratah donde tuve ocasión de pasearme entre canguros dándoles de comer y acariciar koalas - un sueño

DK Det var helligdag i Australien så Per og Yvonne havde fri og tilbød at tage mig på udflugt til de smukke Blue Mountains ca. en times kørsel fra Sydney. På vejen gjorde vi holdt og så Den Olympiske By. I Blue Mountains fik vi gået os godt trætte i benene og på hjemvejen gjorde vi holdt ved et stort forlystelsescenter kaldet Panthers. Her fik vi et overdådigt aftensmåltid og spillede Aquagolf og tabte 20 AUD på rouletten

UK Bank holiday in Australia and Per and Yvonne kindly offered to spend the day together going to the Blue Mountains about one hours drive from Sydney. On the way we stopped to visit the Olympic City too. At the beautiful Blue Mountains we went hiking till our legs hurt. On the way home we stopped to dine at the Panthers Entertainment Centre where we also played Aquagolf and I lost 20 AUD on the roulette

ES Era fiesta en Australia y Per y Yvonne me llevaron de excursión a las bellas Montañas Azules a una hora de Sydney en coche. De camino paramos a ver la Ciudad Olímpica también. En las montañas nos machacamos paseando y luego a la vuelta nos paramos a cenar en el Centro de Ocio Panthers donde jugamos a Aquagolf y perdí 20 AUD en la ruleta

DK Sidste dag i Sydney. Jeg tog på egen hånd med tog til centrum og tog først en guided tur gennem Opera Huset. Bagefter en harbour cruise med færge som tog mig over til Taronga Zoo på den modsatte bred. Lidt shopping undervejs blev det også til. Til sidst tog jeg på en af rejsens højdepunkter: kravleturen hen over Harbour Bridge med BridgeClimb. Et fantastisk eventyr. Hyggehjemmeaften med Per & Yvonne og pakning klar til næste del af rejsen: RED CENTRE

UK My last day in Sydney. I went to the centre on my own by train and took a guided tour of the Opera House. Then I went on a harbour cruise which stopped at the Taronga Zoo, and I also did some shopping. Last stop in Sydney was one of the highlights of the trip: the climbing of the Harbour Bridge with BridgeClimb, an amazing adventure. Spent the night quietly at home with Per's family and packed my bags to move on to the 2nd part of the trip: RED CENTRE

ES Mi último día en Sydney. Bajé al centro con el tren y realicé una visita guiada de la Casa de la Opera. Luego hice un crucero por el puerto de Sydney hasta el Zoo de Taronga y luego algunas compras. Por último uno de los momentos estrella del viaje: la escalada del puente de Harbour Bridge con BridgeClimb, una aventura increíble. Mi última noche la pasé en casa tranquila con la familia de Per y haciendo mi equipaje para seguir con la 2ª parte del viaje: EL CENTRO ROJO

DK Fly med Qantas til Alice Springs, 3.5 times tur. Ankomst til en meget øde egn hvor jeg blev sat af ude på landingsbanen og selv måtte gå ind til ankomsthallen med kufferten. Jeg havde lejet bil, en 4-hjulstrukket Toyota Rav4 som jeg hentede i lufthavnen. Sneg mig så ind mod byen Alice Springs mens jeg vænnede mig til at køre i venstre side. Spiste frokost i Alice Springs og tilbragte eftermiddagen med at shoppe lidt lokal kunst som dotpaintings og en didjeridoo-fløjte. Mærkbart mange aborigens. Inden det blev mørkt satte jeg kurs mod ranchen Ross River Homestead 80 km. øst for byen hvor jeg skulle tilbringe natten. Her blev jeg indlogeret i en charmerende bjælkehytte.
 
UK Flight with Qantas to Alice Springs, a trip of 3.5 hours. Arrival in a very desert area where I had to get off on the landing ramp and walk to the transit hall with my suitcase. I picked up a hire car at the airport, a 4-wheel-drawn Toyota Rav4 and slowly made my way to the town of Alice Springs trying to adapt myself to driving on the left. I had lunch in Alice Springs and spent the afternoon shopping for native art like dotpaintings and a didjeridoo-flute. Before it got dark I set out for the Ross River Homestead ranch 80 km. east of Alice Springs where I was to spend the night in a wooden cottage.

ES Volé con Qantas a Alice Springs, un vuelo de 3.5 horas. Llegué a una zona muy desierta y tuve que bajar del avión en la pista de aterrizaje y andar hasta el terminal con mi maleta. Recojí mi coche de alquiler, un 4 x 4 Toyota Rav4 y puse rumbo a la ciudad de Alice Springs muy lentamente, intentando acostumbrarme a conducir por la izquierda. Almorcé en Alice Springs y realicé unas compras por la tarde de arte nativo como las pinturas de puntos y la flauta "didjeridoo". Antes del anochecer puse rumbo al rancho de Ross River Homestead a 80 km. de Alice Springs donde iba a pasar la noche en una cabaña de madera.

DK Vågnede i min bjælkehytte midt ude i den australske "bush", en fed fornemmelse. Tog på opdagelse på ranchen hvor der var wallabies, heste og kameler i lange baner. Heaven. Hestene havde hviledag så jeg tog på en kameltur ud i bush'en, en spøjs oplevelse. Bagefter fik jeg undervisning i boomerangkast og piskesmæld af en af ranchens cowboys og smagte det simple måltid Billy Tea & Damper. Derefter satte jeg kursen mod vest i min bil og kørte den første lange strækning i Red Centre med mange smukke stop undervejs. Gjorde holdt for natten ved Glen Helen Gorge, fuld af myg!

UK Woke up in my cottage lost in the aussi bush, a great feeling. Went to check out the ranch and meet the wallabies, horses and camels. The horses had their day off so I went on a camel ride instead through the bush. Then I took boomerang shooting lessons and wip cracking lessons from on of the cowboys and enjoyed the simple local meal Billy Tea & Damper. And then I got in the car and started the first part of a long drive through the Red Centre making several scenic stops on the way. Stopped for the night at the Glen Helen Gorge, full of mosquitos!

ES Me desperté en mi cabaña perdido en el "bush" australiano - genial. Me fui a pasear por el rancho a ver los canguros, caballos y camellos. Los caballos tenían el día libre así que fui a montar a camello por el bush. Luego me enseñaron a tirar el boomerang y a manejar el látigo y probé la sencilla comida local Billy Tea & Damper. Y después puse rumbo a lo que sería el primer tramo largo por el Centro Rojo en coche, parando en varios lugares de interés por el camino. Pasé la noche junto al cauce de Glen Helen, ¡lleno de mosquitos!

DK Turens mest øde stykke i bil fra Glen Helen til Kings Canyon, den såkaldte Mereenie Loop Road som man skal have skriftlig tilladelse til at bruge. En svær tur med veje med dybt rødt sand hvor jeg kørte i 4 timer i træk uden at møde en eneste sjæl men så en masse dyreliv. Ankomst til Kings Canyon midt i den værste middagshede hvor jeg tog en stille gåtur ind gennem kløftens dal, en tur på 2 timer istedet for den 4 timer lange tur op over kløftens kant. Meget få turister og en smuk tur. Tilbragte aftenen og natten på Kings Canyon Resort med grillparty, live musik og en pragtfuld solnedgangstur med champagne.

UK The loneliest part of the trip from Glen Helen to Kings Canyon down the Mereenie Loop Road that you need a special permission to use. I drove for 4 hours through deep red sand without meeting a single soul but saw a lot of wildlife. Arrived at Kings Canyon in the peak of the midday heat and took the 2-hour walk through the valley to the end of the canyon instead of the 4-hour walk over the top. Very few tourists and a beautiful walk indeed. Spent the evening and night at the Kings Canyon Resort with live music and barbecue and enjoyed a lovely sunset & champagne view walk over the mountains.

ES La parte más desierta del viaje de Glen Helen a Kings Canyon por el Camino Mereenie Loop que requiere un permiso especial. Conducí durante 4 horas por carreteras de arena roja muy honda sin encontrarme con NADIE pero ví muchos animales. Llegué a Kings Canyon al mediodía cuando apretaba el calor y opté por el paseo de 2 horas por el valle del cañon en vez del paseo de 4 horas hasta la cima. Había muy pocos turistas y fue un paseo precioso. La tarde-noche la pasé en el Kings Canyon Resort con música en vivo, barbacoa y un precioso paseo para ver la puesta del sol sobre el cañon tomando champán.

DK Tidlig start mod turens højdepunkt: AYERS ROCK. En tur på 4 timer i bil men ad asfalterede veje. Jeg blev indlogeret på et hotel i Ayers Rock Resort 20 km fra klippen og kørte straks ned for at se den på nært hold fra det berømte Sunset View Point. Tog en køretur rundt om hele klippen og så den med vandfald ned ad siderne da det begyndte at regne. Om aftenen deltog jeg i den præmierede Sound of Silence Dinner, en fantastisk oplevelse.

UK Early start towards the highlight of the whole trip: AYERS ROCK. A 4 hour drive but down paved roads. I lodged at the Ayers Rock Resort 20 km. from the rock and went straight down to take a closer look from the famous Sunset View Point and afterwards drove around the whole rock where I got the chance to see waterfalls run down its sides as it started raining. In the evening I attended the awarded Sound of Silence Dinner, an amazing experience.

ES Arranqué temprano hacía el no va más de todo el viaje: AYERS ROCK. Un camino de 4 horas en coche pero por carreteras asfaltadas. Me alojé en un hotel del Ayers Rock Resort a 20 km. de la roca y en seguida bajé para verlo más de cerca desde el famoso Mirador de la Puesta de Sol y luego di toda la vuelta a la roca en coche viendo cascadas caer sobre él ya que empezó a llover. Por la noche acudí al premiado restaurante Cena al Sonido del Silencio, una velada increíble.

DK Jeg startede dagen med det andet store eventyr på min Australiensrejse: en helikoptertur hen over Ayers Rock og de nærliggende The Olgas. En helt utrolig oplevelse. Bagefter deltog jeg i en gåtur langs klippens fod med en indfødt guide som talte på sit orginale sprog så vi måtte have tolk med. Han fortalte om klippens skabelseshistorie, den såkladte "Dreamtime", viste os hulemalerier m.m. Jeg besøgte også det nærliggende kulturcenter hvor aborigen sælger deres kunst. Og tog en stille aften på mit værelse efter de mange indtryk.

UK I started the day with the second great adventure of my trip to Australia: a helicopter flight over Ayers Rock and the close by rocks called The Olgas. A truly amazing experience. After that I participated in a guided walk by the base of the rock with an aborigen guide who spoke his native language so we had a translator with us. He told us about the creation of the rock, the socalled "Dreamtime" and showed us cave paintings. I also visited the Uluru Cultural Centre where the aborigens sell their arts & crafts. Spent a quiet night at my room soaking it all in.

ES Empezé el día con la segunda gran aventura de mi viaje a Australia: una viaje en helicóptero sobrevolando Ayers Rock y Las Olgas. Una experiencia realmente fantástica. Luego participé en una visita guiada por la base de la roca con un guía nativo que hablaba en su lengua así que llevabamos un traductor. El nos habló de la creación de la roca, el llamado "Tiempo de Los Sueños" y nos enseñó antiguas pinturas en la roca. También visité el Centro Cultural donde los nativos venden su artesanía. Pasé la noche tranquila en mi habitación para digerir tantas impresiones.

DK Efter en sidste tur ned til Sunset View Point for at kaste et sidste blik på Ayers Rock satte jeg kurs mod den lille lufthavn ved klippen hvor jeg skulle aflevere bilen og flyve mod turens tredje og sidste del: Det tropiske Queensland. Flyvetur på 3 timer til Cairns og derefter en bustur til landsbyen Port Douglas hvor jeg blev indlogeret på det skønne hotel Rydges Reef Resort. Frokost og shoppetur i Port Douglas og om eftermiddagen tog jeg på en ridetur langs stranden. Relax om aftenen med hyggelig middag med grillet krokodillekød og rødvin

UK After one last visit to the Sunset View Point for one last glace at Ayers Rock I set out for the tiny airport where I was to drop off the car and start the 3rd part of the trip to tropical Queensland. A 3 hour flight to Cairns and then by bus to Port Douglas where I lodged at the posh Rydges Reef Resort. Lunch and shopping in Port Douglas and in the afternoon I went on a horse back ride on the beach. A quiet evening at the hotel with a delicious dinner, grilled crocodile & red wine

ES Tras una última visita al Mirador para un último vistazo a Ayers Rock puso rumbo al pequeño aeropuerto donde iba a dejar el coche y seguir en avión a la 3ª parte del viaje: Queensland. Un vuelo de 3 horas a Cairns y luego en bus a Port Douglas donde me alojé en el lujoso hotel Rydges Reef Resort. Almorcé y hice algunas compras por el pueblo tropical y por la tarde opté por un paseo a caballo por la playa. Pasé la noche tranquila en el hotel con una deliciosa cena a base de cocodrilo asado y vino tinto

DK Her var jeg på en heldagsudflugt til verdens største koralrev Great Barrier Reef med firmaet Quicksilver. Vi sejlede med en stor katamaran ud til en fast platform de har bygget ved det ydre rev og tilbragte hele dagen her incl. frokost om bord. Jeg fik snorklet en del og taget billeder med mit lille billige undervandskamera og var på en tur i deres undervandsbåd også. Her kom også turens tredje og sidste højdepunkt: mit livs først dyk med flaske, helt ned til 14 meters dybde og jeg blev omgående bidt af en gal dykker, det var vildt fedt

UK I went on a full day excursion to the famous Great Barrier Reef with Quicksilver. We sailed by catamaran to a fixed platform by the outer reef and spent the day there incl. lunch on board. I did a lot of snorkeling and took underwater photos with my cheap camera and also went for a reef ride in their submarine. My trips 3rd and last great adveture was the first proper scuba dive of my life, going down to 14 meters and truly amazing, I loved it from the very first moment

ES Hice una excursión de todo el día a la Gran Barrera de Arrecifes con la compañía Quicksilver. Navegamos con un catamarán hasta una plataforma fija junto al arrecife exterior donde pasamos todo el día. Buceé un montón con tubo sacando fotos con mi cámara subaquática baratita y también me monté en el submarino. La 3ª gran aventura del viaje fue mi primera inmersión con botella de oxígeno hasta 14 metros de profundidad, absolutamente increíble y me aficioné de forma instantánea an buceo

DK Min sidste dag i Australien, snøft Jeg var på tur til landsbyen Kuranda som ligger dybt inde i regnskoven. Turen derop foregik med verdens længste svævebane på 7.5 km i individuelle kabiner. En herlig oplevelse. Jeg fik shoppet en masse fjollet turistpjank i landsbyen og var med tog tilbage til Cairns hvorfra jeg skulle flyve hjem tidligt om morgenen dagen efter.

UK My last day in Australia, what a pitty. I went to the small village of Kuranda deep in the rainforrest. The trip there was by the world's longest skyrail, 7.5 km in individual cabins, great fun. I did a lot of tourist shopping in Kuranda and went back to Cairns on the scenic railway. Spent the evening packing as I was going home early next day.

ES Mi último día en Australia, que peña me daba La pasé visitando el pueblo de Kuranda perdido en la selva tropical de Cairns. Llegué hasta el pueblo con el teleférico más largo del mundo, 7.5 km. en cabinas individuales, fue genial. Hice las típicas compras turísticas en Kuranda y volví en tren hasta Cairns para hacer las maletas ya que mi vuelo salía muy temprano el día siguiente.

DK Flytur hjem fra Cairns via Sydney hvor Per kom og vinkede farvel i lufthavnen, videre til Singapore, så via Paris med et teknisk stop til Madrid og til sidst til Mallorca. Over 30 timers rejse i alt og jeg var helt flad da jeg kom hjem. Mit livs rejse var slut, hvor jeg dog håber at jeg engang får lov at genopleve dette facinerende land

UK Homewardbound from Cairns to Sydney where Per came to say goodbuy at the airport, then on to Singapore, then via Paris with a technical stop to Madrid and finally to Mallorca. Over 30 hours travelling and I was exhausted when I arrived. The end of the trip of my life but I do hope I will get the opportunity some day to return to this facinating country

ES Vuelo de Cairns a Sydney donde Per vino a despedirse al aeropuerto. Luego a Singapore y después via Paris con una parada técnica hasta Madrid. Por último a Mallorca donde llegué muerta tras más de 30 horas de viaje. Así acabó el viaje de mi vida y me queda la esperanza de poder algún día volver a ver ese país tan facinante
