About the Sport of Obedience

Quinn and I love training competition obedience.
Join us a we embark on our obedience trial experience.

We are meeting great people along the way and overcoming  challenges, becoming a super team as we go. It is quite a thrill.

The titles for the various levels of expertise are as follows
  CD  awarded for Novice
* GN or Graduate Novice - optional title, with modified Open exercises
  CDX awarded for Open
* GO  or Graduate Open - optional title, with modified Utility exercises
  UD awarded for Utility
* Versatility - optional titling class 2 Novice, 2 Open & 2 Utility exercises

To earn a CD, CDX, UD title you must earn 3 qualifying scores, aka legs, under different judges. A qualifying score requires that you maintain at least 50% of the possible points for each exercise, with a minimum overall total of 170 points.

One can do even more!
UDX (in multiples)
OTCH a coveted title!
* Versatility
To be awarded a UDX title you must earn a qualifying score from both Open and Utility in the same trial, ten times!

An OTCH title, can be earned by a dog and handler team by accumulating 100 points. This is accomplished by placing first, second, third or fourth in the Open B or Utility B class and a first place in Utility B and/or Open B three times. This is the most coveted of awards in obedience.

The most invaluable treasure that we benefit through Competition Obedience is a relationship with your dog, that parallels no other.

Our Plan
Our plan is to compete in AKC, ASCA and UKC at the Novice level gaining valuable experience and earning a CD (Novice) in each organization.

Check back now and then, scroll down, to see what we have been up to!
We will add photos and URL links to video clips as they become available.

To reduce the confusion while sharing our obedience trial experiences I have  created separate pages for our AKC, ASCA and UKC obedience news.

Come back and check the pages for our latest adventures in obedience.

Graduate Novice Certificate

Our AKC GN certificate.
Requires three qualifying scores (legs), Quinn earned this title in three trials, and as he was already entered, earned a bonus leg to cinch the deal!

While we are preparing to trial in Open, we will attend trials to train and observe judging, support the sport, cheer for others.  We also continue to train Utility exercises as well.

Happy Trials!
