Well on May 4th, Friday Paul arrived home from the UK and the Carribean world cup cricket cruise. I had been well looked after by both our parents and although feeling rather large and uncomfortable I was ready for this baby to come out. I felt enormous relief as his plane touched down and that must have translated to my body as at 5am the next morning I started having contractions and off to the hospital at 8am we went. The contractions were fast and furious with baby predicted to arrive at midday-ish until I had pre-eclampsia (high blood pressure) around 11am and they gave me the choice of epidural or possibility of having a fit! Hmm after a little thought we decided a fit during labour was not ideal so opted for the epidural. As previously experienced the epidural is fab in that you feel nothing but was not fab in that it slowed the dilation and progress to a grinding halt. It then took another 7hrs for me to dilate 3cm and the threat of having a caesarean again was delivered by our doctor. But alas our little man soldiered on and was delivered "naturally" (which included epidural, episotomy, vacuum and 50 stitches) at 20:42hrs. Jaiden was 3.2kgs with a little head of 34.5cm so all was fantastic and he was absolutely adorable. Paul and Doreen were excellent support people and I must say the combination of gas and a hot bath was fabulous with lots of nice discussions between contractions. Shame we could not progress further then without the high blood pressure. Jaiden Craig Murphy has settled in nicely to the Murphy clan, with big brother Keian starting with indifference, a little jealousy and confusion at why mum was having this other baby with her and staying at this funny hotel without him to responding to Jaiden the moment he cries with pats and shhhhh-ing him. He tends to be a little boisterous but all in all has adjusted to this new baby being here well. He is a real dads boy at present which is lovely to watch but I am sure when Paul returns to working normal hours on July 4th he will miss him terribly. When Jaiden was just 3weeks old we packed up the car and headed to Nelsons bay where mum and dad lives for a holiday and spending some time with them. Unfortunately Keian and Paul had had the flu virus earlier in the previous weeks and it was the day we arrived that it hit Jaiden at just 22days old with nasty results. We spent time then between hospitals and doctors due to Jaiden having breathing difficulties and bronchiolitis and then me having bleeding complications so the first 5 days up there were horrendous and a real test of the medical system up there. In hindsight it was fortunate we were up there with Mum and dad able to give us the support and care we needed to get through it. The back end of our trip was wonderful with walks and dinners and lunches and fabulous weather.
We are now back at home and finally Jaiden has lost the cough and congestion and starting to settle into some semblance of a routine. We are further hoping this develops and we can start having some normal time with Paul and I actually seeing one another.
Paul commences work back with CSC Australia on July 4th which he is very much looking forward too after burning the candle at both ends with working UK hours whilst he wraps up the work there. We are off on another trip by car next weekend for the two weeks Paul has off, not sure where we are going but stay tuned for that in the next update.
We have been very fortunate with visitors, presents, peoples love and support during the last 4mths and for that we are forever amazed and grateful, particularly to both our parents who put their lives on hold to care for me and Keian. Thank you.....
I now look forward to operating independently, getting into shape and creating some semblance of a routine in place, not to mention getting into netball.
Paul and I have a number of projects on the boil this year and I cant wait to get those moving.
Keian has grown into a delightful and enquisitive little gentleman. He is into every thing and LOVES company, he delights in playing with all his new friends here (and no doubt wonders where the folks in Germany he grew to love have disappeared to, as well as his nanny Isabella!). He is fasinated by areoplanes and constantly spots them in the sky. He loves to ride his bike, visit the park and sit up on the bench to watch Paul or I cooking. He has a new fascination with the Wiggles and has ditched Hi 5 for the same. This is not all bad as we are taking him with a group of his friends to see the Wiggles in July.
He has a new nanny two days a week with Lucy and another two days he goes to building blocks and music. Inbetween we play with our friends from Penrith to Wollongong, as well as family.........
I will try to keep this website up to date for our away friends! And I look forward to hearing from each of you on your updates.
We miss those of you we cannot see regularly and love seeing those of you who are now local to us. We wish you luck for those of you seeking to add to your families in the coming year and thank God it is not me for now.
Loads of love from us all, Corrine Paul Keian and Jaiden xoxoxox
