June 23rd 2008

Greetings everyone, I hope that you are all well.

I am writing to update you on the PV Charity Ball that took place two weeks ago, and also developments with Project Volunteer (1124536).  Firstly, a very big thank you to all who attended the ball on Friday 13th June.  By the looks of the photos and feedback I've received you all had
a fun-filled evening.

The auction, raffle and ad hoc donations brought our fund-raising total on the night to a little over £7,000, hopefully with still some further promises of donations to come.  To date we have raised £10,480 towards our goal of building a home costing £32,000 to house up to 15 Orphans in Serowe Botswana.

We are also extremely grateful for the donations made through our website from people who bought a ticket but could not attend, the link is still open if you wish to donate.

The generosity of all of our sponsors and donators of gifts helped to make the evening a great success.  Also, a big thank you to the band, organised by David Gwilliam for donating back their fee and asking X-Factor finalist Ben Mills, to play.

For those of you who were not there, you may be interested to hear that I have been auctioned off to Mike Wariebi who has said that he has exciting plans in store for my weekend with him!!!  Pictures will be available of me in my French maids outfit, no doubt doing his polishing and dusting (for a donation of course).  Ball pictures are now on the site for you to view.

One of the highlights of the evening was 11-year-old Ella McNeill's speech, which ended "it does not matter who you are or where you're from, everybody matters".  This signified to me that if we all take a moment to think about others we can help to make a difference in the world that we live in.

Due to the fantastic response on the evening and for those that wanted to make it but couldn't, we are already planning next years event.  An online questionnaire is being sent out to the attendees to see how we can improve on this years event.  A 'save the date' reminder for next year will be sent out once we've had the feedback in.

The next trip to Botswana is towards the end of September and a number of people registered their interest in coming on the night.  Please note that these spaces are limited so if you are interested in helping the orphanage first hand please let me know.  If you have any questions about Project Volunteer or wish to help in any way then please leave a message on the 'contact us' page.

Finally we received our charities registration number from the Charity Commission so you will now find us registered under number 1124536. This gives details of the charity, our memorandum and also accounts which will show complete transparency in the way that we operate.

On behalf of the committee, the children and SOSCV team in Botswana I would like to thank you for your continued support.

Kind regards

DVC
