Red Hatters ~ Sick Reports
6 May 2011 Gloria writes...
The radio therapy has left me with neuropathy in my hands & feet, so driving is difficult because of loss of sensation & I cannot feel the steering wheel under my hands properly + I have lost balance a few times & fallen - so I am not driving & don't go anywhere on my own. However the doctor says it is only a temporary thing. I am seeing my consultant on Monday & we are looking at future planning. We will all be thinking of Gloria and wishing her a bright and positive future! 23 April 2011 Gloria writes ...
I have been a bit poorly & ended up in hospital for 8 days attached to drips & stuff. I am in some pain & on a morphine patch with oral liquid morphine to top up with so cannot drive. I am pain free now & having a relatively good quality of life. I am getting out now as long as I am with some one. My looks do not favour me, I look amazingly well.
Keep Up Your Determined Spirit Gloria!
21 February 2011 Gloria writes ...
I have now received my programme for radio therapy but between that and the Chemo I don't have much energy for very much else At present I am a little low as my white blood cells have taken such a hammering from the daily injections
All our thoughts are once again wishing Gloria well
10 February 2011 Gloria writes ...
I have been diagnosed with Lung Cancer and I have now had two cycles of Chemo so far this week I am off so within a few days I hope to feel much better I will have two more cycles and then if the tumour has shrunk enough I will be having Radiotherapy every day for 4 weeks, which I guess will leave me feeling pretty weak
We will be thinking of Gloria and hoping the treatments are not to ardous and are succesful!

Gill writes ...
Gloria unfortunately will be in hospital again, this time it is her eyes. She has to go into Colchester on 30th June for an op. on the better of her eyes as she has Macula hole in both.........!!!!! Following the op. she will have to lie face down for 4 days and then not move her head from looking at her feet for a further fortnight. Needless to say she has been very down in the dumps with the prospect of all this and as her eye sight has deteriorated a lot she cannot drive any more.
We will be thinking of Gloria and wishing her well !
31 October 2010
Gill writes ...
'Gloria has to stay home for the next 10 days or so as they have phoned from the hospital to say that she has picked up the MRSA bug....... She is absolutely horrified. She says she was tested when she went in and was clear so must have picked it up in there'
We all wish Gloria a speedy recovery
23October 2010
Gill writes...
'Just thought I'd better give you an update on Gloria. She is still in hospital awaiting a package to be set up so she can come home. When I last visited she still wasn't able to walk - leg swollen etc. and they had put her on morphine, which of course made her really drowsy but relatively painfree'
13 October 2010
Gill writes ... ' Just to tell you that Gloria has had her replacement knee op. and is fine. I spoke to her on the phone yesterday and am going in to see her this evening. She says it is painful but it is early days as yet.
We all wish Gloria a speedy recovery

Dear Ladies
With great sadness I have to let you all know that Diane, Lady Di has passed away suddenly at the week-end
Her daughter Claire sadly found her dead in her garden
I have spent a few hours this morning with Claire and of course she is very shocked and distraught
I personally have lost a good friend and neighbour as well as a founder member of the Ruby Belles
Her son Mark is flying home from Australia so the funeral is not imminent but as soon as I know the date I will let you know, the family have told me that all wishing to pay their respects will be most welcome
If you wish to send a card of condolence to the family please address it to Claire & Gary Hawes c/o Diane's home address

04/06/2010 Sally's has now had her op, it was not straight forward as she had a stone stuck in the tube, but she came home last night, sore and tired but okay.
28/03/2010
Suzi sent this message today Sally asked me to thank everybody for the cards she recieved, they arrived on her partners birthday she got more than him!!!! If you have not sent a card yet it's not too late as Sally will be back in hospital some time next week for her operation so your continued support I'm sure will help 24/03/2010 Sally Lady Primrose is currently in Colchester hospital with very high Blood Pressure and Gall Bladder problems It seem likely an op is imminent and Suzi will keep us updated on Sally's condition We wish her a speedy return to good health
04/06/2010 Jackie Countess Jacaranda writes... Hi Linda Sadly Lisa died yesterday evening at 11.55 pm after having moved to Farleigh Hospice from the ward just yesterday morning. Lisa died very peacefully and yesterday at the hospice she looked the most comfortable and relaxed we've seen her in the last 8 weeks
22/05/2010
Jackie Countess Jacaranda writes...
Hi Linda
Well news is mixed really Lisa is off the ventilator and has a tracheostomy in her throat to assist her breathing and to allow for suctioningof secretions without causing her too much distress. She has also been moved from intensive care to ward, however Barbara has been told that they will not be putting Lisa back on a ventilator again if she relapses as her lungs won.t really take it. Lisa is very poorly but you never know Lisa could regain some of her former self and rally round .
Our thoughts and prayers continue for Lisa and Barbara
25/04/2010 Barbara Lady Buddleia writes... Lisa is improving very slowly. She's still on the ventilator but sedation ceased two days ago so she is beginning to focus properly now. She is very weak probably due to the fact she is having to work really hard with her respiration. She had a few tears yesterday which is unlike her but I think she is more than entitled to do so. Still a long way to go but at least she seems to be going the right way
14/04/2010
Barbara's daughter Lisa has been seriously ill since the week-end and in Broomfield hospital
We send both Lisa & Barbara all our love
We send our love and support to Barbara at this difficult time

With a heavy heart I have to advise you that my husband Frank passed away early this morning, my eldest son & I were with him and the end came very peacefully which was such a relief after the hard struggle he had faced with dignity over the last few weeks
Thanks for all your love & support for me through the sad times I have found myself having to bear recently I know many of you have also had and continuing to have your own personal troubles so my empathetic thoughts are with those ladies too
12/04/2010
I know many of you are aware, though some are not, that Frank had a relapse just over four weeks ago and the time has passed by so quickly and life since the start of this year has been a real roller coaster for me, with the sudden sad loss of my sister too Thanks for all the words of encouragement and messages of support I have tried to answer most, I'm sorry if I missed anyone Frank is very sick at present and I am spending several hours each day at Broomfield, his condition has been an absolute mystery to the medical team however thankfully today some results have given some indication and a way forward for treatment although further tests are also being followed up Frank apparently has unaware to him & me at some time in the last few years had Meningitis, but with obviously no diagnosis & treatment the bacteria has been roaming through his body ever since like an Exocet missile, the form of meningitis is very rare and not infectious to those he has been in contact with Had this latest relapse not occurred they were about to recall him for more tests as the conclusive results on the tests on the tumour removed in February showed it was made up of the meningitis bacteria What is happening now is the bacteria has / is causing thickening around the base of the brain plus other infections elsewhere, eyes, muscles and today in his chest It was decided he is too unstable to be moved ( even by air ambulance) to the Royal London or anywhere that has a specialised neurology unit and the programme of treatment would not differ if they did so The Stroke Unit at Broomfield are happy to continue treating him, under the consultation of their senior neurologist We were told today he has a 50/50 chance of survival but they cannot guarantee he will fully recover We were also advised to be aware anything could lead to a rapid deterioration We need to take it a day at a time and to expect a hopeful recovery but that will take many weeks and possibly months I can only cope with this by attempting to keep all other areas in my life as normal as possible so will continue to Red Hat whenever I am able to, I know Frank would want me to do so ...and it is a great way to distract my mind I know so many of you will agree and will understand that some light hearted fun with you lovely ladies will keep me strong and positive and is in no way discounting the enormity of the struggle both Frank and I face in the coming weeks and months
31/03/2010
Hi Ladies Many of you are already aware that my hubby Frank as been poorly again for the last two weeks and was admitted to Broomfield on Monday evening with another suspected Stroke He had an MRI on Tuesday & was seen by the Stroke Consultant today The news again is mixed, they are now ruling out a stroke despite some of the signs he will be seen by the resident neurologist at Broomfield tomorrow as they are concerned about the eyes, right one in particular and they are looking for optic nerve damage or central nervous system problems, as the MRI scan is not initially showing anything untoward since the tumour removal in February (which was benign) In the meantime they want to keep him reasonably still and quiet
It's all quite frustrating as once again until they know the cause of his health problems there is no knowing where this is all going
17/02/2010
We had the results Monday from the tests on the tumour removed on the 8 February The good news is that there is absolutely no Cancer so he will not require Radium or Chemo treatments However the good news was not a complete answer and of course at present will still cause us to be a little anxious Three Pathologists at the Royal London have examined the tumours & have no idea what they are, what the caused is and if they could occur again So the Neurologist is not happy to discharge Frank completely and the plan at present is for him to have an MRI Scan within the next few weeks and possible every six months in the future just to make sure it does not return In the meantime his case is still under investigation and the Pathologists are researching to see if anything similar has been found by other Neurologists and Pathologists in other hospitals So we just now keep positive and it would be nice to get a result so we know what & why and dispel our anxious thoughts but at least if that is not to be we do know everyone pulled out all the stops and they will be monitoring him in the future Although Frank felt well enough to return to work on the 1 March he has in the last week felt unwell again, he has seen the GP who has diagnosed post op symptoms and signed him off for a week I'm sure a little more rest and the relief that the big 'C' is no longer hanging over him will help towards a resumption to good health again soon As to the on going investigations again we are both keeping positive that there is nothing more sinister to be discovered and life goes on Once again thank you all for your kind support, the e-mail messages, the cards to Frank and to myself it has really helped
12/02/2010
The latest update on Frank... He is doing exceedingly well and I was able to bring him home from hospital yesterday He is feeling well and looking well apart from a large scar (still stapled) on the top of his head which can be covered easily with a hat The op (5hrs) went text book, the tumour slipped out easily and complete and Frank recovered very quickly from the anaesthetic with no side effects, minimal discomfort from the op or as he himself describes it 'a sore head' and only required pain relief for 24 hrs and now is just on Codeine He has the staples removed at the GP's on Monday and his next appointment with the Neurosurgeon is at Broomfield the following Monday when we should get the results of the tests on the tumour and any further treatments will be planned
Thank you all for your many messages and support through these stressful weeks 29/01/2010
Frank will have his op at the Royal London, Whitechapel on Tuesday 9 February
25/01/2010
We have seen the Neurosurgeon today & Frank has to have surgery within the next three weeks at the Royal London in Whitechapel, after that it depends what they find to know what else needs to be done The consultant was very positive and whilst it is a major operation Frank is otherwise very healthy so hopefully nothing too horrible will be found and he will recover though it will take time
20/01/2010
Late on Monday 11 January Frank, Linda Queen LindyLou's husband sufferred a Stroke, it was not severe and only some numbness in the hand remained on Tuesday when he was discharged from Hospital However on leaving the hospital Frank had another slight attack & was re-admitted to the hospital, where further scans were done over Wednesday & Thursday On Friday Frank was diagnosed with a Brain Tumour, however was allowed to come home for the week-end
Monday 18 January after a frustrating 7hr wait at the hospital when we found out no more than we knew the previous Friday he was discharged to home awaiting further investigation
Frank has an appointment at Broomfield on Monday 25 January with a Nuerosurgeon from Barts & the Royal London to discuss further investigations in order what treatment will follow
What is definite is that hopefully before the end of January and at the latest within three weeks Frank will have a Biopsy in order to determine the state of the tumour
Thank You All so much for your Support for Me & Good Health Wishes for Frank I will keep you all posted
In the meantime I will try my best to ensure that further Ruby Belles events go ahead, please enjoy yourselves and I will be back with you as soon as possible, no matter what the outcome I know I will need to continue to spend fun times with you and enjoy your support in the future
Love Linda Queen LindyLou

More news from Jeanette
Because of deterioration over time..........I have been to 'numerous' doctors in the 20 years since my car accident on Dec 17th 1989.
Up until last year..........they all had said exactly the same thing.........i.e. an operation would not fix 'my' problem. Last year I was recommended to a doctor in Southport.......on the Gold Coast. He suggested he could give me back 80% of the lost movement in my back by inserting artificial discs. He told me to go home...........join a heath fund...........lose weight...........& then come back. Now when Victor broke his leg last July............the surgeon who operated on him..........was one I had previously seen about my back. He still felt I shouldn't have the op............so that element of doubt is the reason I went to see this doctor today. The doctor I saw today said categorically that I do NOT need an op........& that it would do nothing at all to help my condition. Back ops he said are usually for nerve entrapment & I do not have any neural entrapment........(I already knew that). He agreed I do have discs that are deteriorated much more than they should be at my age......because of my injury.........& I do have arthritis in my spine & hips................but an op could not fix those problems. He recommended that I attend a 14 day Back Clinic at the Wesley Hospital (Brisbane).......where they would assess me........& teach me to better manage my condition. Victor & I were very relieved as we were very loathe for me to have the operation........after so many doctors had recommended I didn't. Although I am annoyed at the Southport doctor who probably wanted to operate because 'he' has a patent on the artificial discs he was going to insert.....I do have to thank him for the fact that he was the stimulus that resulted in me losing 16 kilos of weight. At least I can now plan things for the year ahead without wondering 'if & when' I might be having op. We congratulate Jeanette on her weight loss & hope it helps her mobility now & in the future and that the Back Clinic is of great help to her in the future
18/07/09
Jeanette continues to have great success with her diet which has helped her mobility and she says made her feel so much better, however it seems her op is unlikely to take place now till early next year, but I'm sure Jeanette will keep up the good work and remain positive. She has already lost 15 kilo which is 33lbs about 2stone 5lb way to go girl!
Unfortunately her husband Victor recently had a fall and broke his leg, he had an op yesterday to place a pin & everything went well, we wish Victor a speedy recovery
20/ 04/ 2009 Jeanette has been having great success with her diet with lots of help and support from her husband and her friends, so a step nearer to her op Well Done Jeanette!
30/03/09 Jeanette has now had the results from her Discogram, she has 4 damaged discs...2 bad, one worse & the 4th is really disgusting!!! The damage originally was caused by a car accident and her doctor feels her back has been very badly managed over the years & the damage could have been lessened... Which is very frustrating to learn after 19 years
Surgery techniques & skills have of course come a long way since December 1989 The
intention is to fuse the worst disc & replacing the second disc with an artificial one, a
pparently this is known as a 'Hybrid Approach'.
As this surgery is done through the abdomen and cannot be safely done and recovery time is much longer if the patient has a
'waistine'
Dr Scott-Young has dangled a 'carrot' of 80% improvement for Jeaneette's condition if she can lose some weight, a p
retty tasty & tempting carrot but not easily achievable
especially for a Red Hatter who enjoys her 'tucker'.....& who isn't very mobile However Jeanette with the help of her husband Victor and all her Red Hat friends is determined to achieve her goal ! We wish her really well & lots of support and Luck with the diet
11/03/2009 With lots of help from her Red Hat Sisters Jeanette managed an hour at her local library for a Chocolate Tasting Session, a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down! We hope the procedure gives the results Jeanette needs
10/03/2009 Jeanette has had the procedure and is coming through with her great sense of humour and positivity and says
I am a little better today...............but not a lot.
Apparently when they inject the dye into my discs..........it makes them swell up. A
nd they take quite awhile to shrink again.
So I now have the equivalent of 3 bulging ( & already damaged) discs........no wonder I am in pain!
The Caboolture Shangri-Lars Queensland Australia
Jeanette Empress Redpepper, Vice Queen of the Shangrilar's is having a Discogram on the 4 March
No not a Disco....something much more painful .....certainly no dancing on the tables
She has disc damage & degeneration in 4 discs......3 of those.........are also bulging, thankfully there is only minimal neural damage......& because of her positive attitude.....her surgeon feels she is 'good candidate' for disc replacement. The 'Discogram' is to determine which discs are the real 'trouble-makers'!!! A Discogram sounds like a lot of fun ....NOT! Whilst only under local anaesthesia, a needle will be inserted in turn into each damaged disc. Then a dye will be passed through the needles & into the discs. The purpose of this procedure is to see which ones hurt 'most', the surgeon will be able to tell which discs need replacing.
The Ruby Belles will be thinking of Jeanette on the 4 March and wishing her lots of luck I will keep you posted of her progress
30/12/2009 Susan is a member of the Purple Pearls, she has been to quite a few Ruby Belles events Susan has the last few months been going through the trauma of a diagnosis of potential double breast cancer She had a biopsy in both breasts just prior to Christmas and has today received the good news that all cancer has been successfully removed and it has not spread to the nodes. She is to have a course of radiotherapy However Margaret Queen Millsy bumped in to Susan this afternoon, this was before the results but she looked remarkably well and up beat although tired.
Suzi Princess Poppy has been unwell with sore throat & cold symptoms
Pat Lady Lilacblossom is currently is laid up with Swine Flu Terri had a fall in the bad weather and luckily escaped with only a finger strain
LuLu on her visit to Stoke on Trent had a slip on the ice and strained her knee
We wish them all a speedy recovery If any Ruby Belles have been ill and I am unaware please do let me know & we wish you well too
02/12/2009
Yesterday at the Red Cross Christmas Market I passed out for a few seconds, I was quickly helped by the Red Cross First Aid Ladies and after a 15 minute lay down with my feet in the air I was more or less back to normal
I personally was not concerned as I have had similar attacks (very infrequently) in the past and it is usually my blood pressure dipping. It is very rapid and I feel perfectly OK up to minutes before it overcomes me like a wave, so was not upset more embarrassed and worried I had spoilt everyone else's day We later carried on to the Bank of England and enjoyed the talk
I am perfectly well again now and sincerely hope I didn't cause you all too much concern
Thanks for all your well wishes

Lynne Lady Topaz joined the Ruby Belles over a year ago but we lost touch with her until she called Queen LindyLou today
Lynne has certainly been through a most traumatic year, her mother sadly passed away and then her father became ill
Then more recently her husband was taken ill and has undergone major surgery having had a triple bypass operation
Her husband's recovery is quite slow but Lynne still wants to stay a member of the Ruby Belles and hopes her life will settle down in the New Year so she can renew friendships and get some fun and relaxation back into her life
We send Lynne lots of love and good wishes and look forward to welcoming her back amongst us when she feels she is ready

28/ 10/2009 News from Mo is that her recovery is now speeding along and she hopes to be driving before the end of November so will be able to return to her Red Hat activities very shortly
1/10/2009 Mo continues to improve and her plaster cast is now off and she has had a foam boot now fitted Mo tells me that strangely she feels like she has almost forgotten how to walk after the months on crutches however feels the confidence factor is much to blame Mo is due to be out again with us for the first time in months when we visit Charter Hall for the Queen Concert later this month 26/08/2009
Hello to all my Fellow Ruby Belles.
Just like to say thank you very much for all the cards and messages you have sent me since having my ankle op. All has gone well, but I cannot walk, I can only hop around on one leg until the ankle has healed enough for me to have a walking plaster cast put on, this will not be until end of September. As I have steep steps to negotiate before getting in and out of my home, I cannot go out at all unless I have a strong helper to assist me in getting up or down them! So I am looking forward to October coming round. Then at least I can walk but will still not be able to drive until nearly Christmas time.
Anyway thank you again.
Mo Lady Caithness.

24/08/2009
I phoned Mo today and will be visiting her on Wednesday afternoon Her operation went very well and her recovery is progressing good Thankfully she has had no pain, but obviously her mobility is very restricted as she is under strict orders not to put any weight on her ankle, she is having to hop along on the good foot useing a zimmer frame This will continue until the end of September when she will then go on to canes for several more months Mo sounded very cheery and said she is managing on microwave meals and deliveries from Tesco, especially needed for her cat's food Family, friends & neighbours are popping in daily for all other bits & pieces she needs She thanks ladies who sent her Get well cards and misses her outings with the Belles and looking forward to getting out with us again in October/November
05/08/2009
Mo is in hospital having an operation on her ankle, we wish her a speedy recovery
30/08/2009
I spoke with Dot today & she felt fine she said nothing was as bad as it felt and she was not bruised She had managed to go to church as she felt much better
29/08/ 2009
Today at the British Legion Ladies Garden Party Dot fell in the garden After being helped up she had a small cut on her hand but was generally OK but shaken She stayed for most of the afternoon but as she started to feel sore & tired I took her home
22/08/2009 Pat was able to join us today in London for our visit to the London 2012 Olympic Park Tour and afterwards for lunch in Spitalfields She looks much improved after all her health scares over the last 9 months.....may he good health continue
05/08/2009 Pat is suffering a mild case of Swine Flu, she has been precribed Tamiflu and she says whilst she is not at her best she certainly has felt much worse over the last six months She is looking forward to joining us for the Olympic Tour on the 22nd
9 July 2009 Newmarket Ladies Day ~ Pat made it! Looking well and taking it easy Pat joined us at Newmarket She still has hospital visits and possible procedures and maybe a Pacemaker op to come but her spirit is very positive It was lovely having her out with us once again
17/06/2009 Chatted with Pat today who is still climbing the walls with her enforced Home Rest, she sees her consultant on the 6 July but is still determined to join us at Newmarket Ladies Day on the 9th
03/06/2009
Pat has been in and out of hospital twince in the last six weeks for tests and an angigram in order that a decision can be made as to when she may have a Pacemaker fitted The future is that once she has had the op whilst it will help her heart condition it will not restore her to full health so she will have to continue to restrict a lot of her activities. They expect her to still have some breathing difficulties which will restrict her walking any great lengths at anyone time Pat remains positive and hopes that there will be events she can get to in the future if we can arrange any transport for her and she is adamant she is still going to the Convention in Portsmouth
19/ 04/ 09 Pat is still awaiting more tests and consultations in the next few weeks and had to pass on our theatre trip to see Gerry Cross the Mersey and will also have to miss Stamford It is possible she will have a Pacemaker fitted shortly
05/04/2009 Pat is still recovering at home, she is in good spirits though a little stir crazy as she cannnot get out & about alone She would be appreciative of any visitor's so if anyone can pop to visit her, she lives in Colchester please do contact me for her phone number The Purple Pearls picked her up and took her out to lunch one day last week and she said it did her the world of good She is having some tests on Friday 17 April so anyone wishing to send her a Good Luck card I'm sure it would give her great support The tests are to determine what exactly is the matter with her heart and what treatment they can offer her
11/03/2009 Pat is home again, she had a seizure however she still has too much fluid around her heart and in her legs for any surgical procedures so she has once again been sent home for complete bed rest
05/03/2009
Pat has been re-admitted into Colchester Hospital. Hopefully they will be able to decide on a course of treatment for her that will put her on a speedy path to recovery
24/02/2009
The update on Pat is that she is now back home, under strict orders to take bed rest
Pat has had two heart attacks, she hadn't realised these were occurring, she suffers from Diabetes and apparently it can mask the other symptoms
Pat must rest for at least six weeks as she has a lot of fluid around her heart and in her legs, she is on a cocktail of drugs plus having daily injections from the district nurse
After six weeks she will have another scan and they will consider fitting a Pacemaker or a shunt to help her heart
Sue and I will try to get to visit her again soon
21/02/2009
Pat Nichols, Lady Pat in the Hat of the Ruby Belles and Purple Pearls is currently in Colchester General, she has been there around 10 days and unsure as to when they will discharge her, she is suffering with a heart condition
Sue and I paid her a surprise visit on Thursday afternoon 'in uniform' which cheered her
Whilst she looked reasonably well and told us she was feeling much better she was still unsteady on her feet
We took in a card and some fruit from us all , as I don't know how long Pat will be in hospital if anyone wishes to individually send her a card please e-mail me for her address

Thank you so much for your get well card - I wasn't anticipating being in hospital this week but I'm now home and on the mend. A little sore but that will pass. I won't bore you with the details, though it was a serious op, the reason was not sinister. I'm taking things really easy for the moment but will see how I feel next week before I cancel too much more.
Love
Muriel

12/07/2009 Sadly Angela lost her battle with Cancer and passed away in St Rocco's Hospice Warrington late on Saturday evening (11/07/2009) Always to be missed!
10/ 07/ 2009 Linda Queen LindyLou will be going to Liverpool to be with her sister Joan as Angela is seriously ill and has now been moved to St Rocco's Hospice Warrington
24/06/2009 Angela is once again improving but neither the procedure or the op was succesful and she will need further invasive procedures once she has recovered enough for surgeons to try again. As she is unable to take solids she has to remain in hospital as she is hitched up to drips 24/7 The messages receieved for her birthday certainly boosted her moral and she has asked me to thank you for all the support and well wishes
19/06/2009 Angela has started to respond to the anti biotics and has now been moved off the critical care unit She is still suffering the effects of the procedures over the last week and quite anxious again as it seems that more surgery will be likely in the not too distant future
17/06/2009 - In Critical Care
After 8 days in Christies she was taken to Withenshaw Hospital on Tuesday to have a Stent inserted in her stomach, unfortunately they were not succesful Yesterday Angela had surgery at Christies to put a tube into the stomach to relieve the pressure The procedure was succesful but some of the fluid leaked into her bloodstream which has caused an infection Today she has been very poorly, very heavily sedated, high heart rate, high blood pressure & being pumped with mega doses of anti-biotics The hospital remain positive and Angela is a fighter I pray she improves to celebrate her birthday with the family on the 21st
27/05/2009 Angela had been enjoying a much better level of good health and even managed to get away with a friend to Spain for a week On her return home she again began feeling ill and has been re-admitted again to Christie's Hospital in Manchester She seems to again have a blockage and had to go back on a nasal drip as she is unable to keep food and drink down We will have more news mid week and wish her a speedy return at least back to the level she was at before this set back
27/04/2009 Angela responded well to anti-biotics and has been discharged from hospital and has resumed her Chemotherapy
18/04/2009 Angela has been admitted back into Christie Hospital, Manchester (16/04/09) with a Viral Infection, she is on intravenous anti-biotics and responding well it is hoped she will be able to resume her Chemotherapy in 7-10 days and be discharged shortly Linda Queen LindyLou is hoping that Angela with her Mum Joan Countess of Culcheth (Queen's Sister) will be able to visit Essex at the end of May, early June
04/04/2009 Angela after a small set back with her Chemo now is back on course and her Cancer is keeping steady at present with her well being improving day by day, so much so tht she is now spending part of the week back at her own home
11/ 03/ 2009
Angela has now commenced her Chemotherapy treatment and has so far had no side effects and responding quite well She is trying a couple of days in her own home to see if she can cope with stairs, she has a friend staying over with her This will give my sister a few days rest and it is nice to hear Angela is feeling so much better and is thinking about regaining her independence again As Dorothy says 'There's No Place Like Home' so keep clicking those Red Slippers Angela!
23/02/2009
I have today received a Thank You card addressed to the Ruby Belles from Angela She will start her Chemotherapy on Thursday 26 February whilst keeping as positive as possible she still feels quite anxious I'm sure our thoughts and prayers are with her as she takes the next steps to regaining her health
11/02/2009
Just a Great Big Thank You from myself plus a Special Thank You from my niece Angela
Angela was so thrilled to receive all your cards and letters, she told me it was a wonderful surprise at a time she was feeling really low and you have all helped her so much to regain a more positive outlook on her condition and the future She has now been allowed home to live with my sister Joan, Countess of Culcheth and started to eat some 'real' food in very small quantities, but has to be very careful & her diet is very limited but after being fed by tube for many weeks she is enjoying the 'taste' of food again
Angela has an appointment with the oncologist later this week so hopefully they will be able to offer her some Chemo soon and start to try & halt the present condition and hopefully help her recover She has said that she hopes to be able to write a personal thank you message to you all soon
Thanks Again Linda Queen LindyLou
January 2009
This is something I wouldn't normally ask but on this occasion I will
Please feel free to either do as I ask or not, I certainly will not be checking if anyone does or not
I feel so frustrated that there is so little I can do and this is the only idea I can come up with
I am asking if any of you would be kind enough to send my niece Angela a Get Well card or note of encouragement
The ladies who went to Liverpool will remember she joined us with my sister Joan Countess of Culcheth at the Nostalgia Tea rooms in Southport
Angela has been suffering ill health for over a year, and has had tests for a million and one things, she suddenly became quite poorly in early December and was taken into her local hospital, a week before Christmas she was transferred to hospital in Manchester were she had major surgery
Sadly she has been diagnosed with Cancer,
because she has experienced a major operation she will need at least six weeks to recover from that before they can offer her Chemotherapy
So I thought the Kindness of Strangers may actually give her a boost, she has from the start supported my Red Hat activities and has till now always been a very positive fun loving girl, can we perhaps help her regain some positivity in her life?
You can send your cards c/o my sister Joan Countess Culcheth
please e-mail me for her address Thank You Linda Queen LindyLou

29/05/2009
Terri has had an op to remove a cataract from her eye, she will be out of circulation for about 4 weeks I will phone her mid week and report on her progress then

17/06/2009 Chris continues to recouperate and managed to get to Queen Cass's Birthday lunch in Brentwood last week, recovery is slow so she must take it easy for a few more weeks yet
05/06/2009 Chris is home and feels she is making progress back to good health
02/06/2009
Chris had surgery on Monday for some ladies problems that had been causing her some distress for a while I spoke with Lily Lady Lancome` (her mum in law) who says she was a little 'muzzy' on Monday evening but managed a chat on the phoneyesterday when her husband visited she managed a short walk. Chris is on the mend and hopes to be home by Friday We wish her a speedy recovery
Summer 2009

We send Good Wishes to both ladies for a speedy recovery to good health and look forward to welcoming them back into our company in the near future
Queen Jay of the Sussex Sisters
15/04/2009 Jen has returned home again after some more care from her sister Queen Dorry, which has helped her once again on the road to recovery, she is now improving surely but slowly day by day 30/ 03 Jen improved with her sisters loving care & attention and returned home to Horsham however Queen Dorry tells me today that Jen is again back with her as she has now been told she has an infection in the scar where the drainage tube was and this has laid Jen low again I'm sure we all send Jen our love and hopes that she will begin to resume better health very soon
17/3 Queen Dorry of the Bardwell Batty Bees writes:-
We picked Jen up from The hospital and brought her here to convalesce today!! At last! She is unbelievably frail and poorly and still on painkillers and antibiotics but I am sure plenty of real rest and good food will soon work the usual miracle. She was so thrilled with all the cards from hatters, do please thank your girls for me. I am sure Jen will be in touch herself as soon as she is able.
Queen Jay of the Sussex Sisters had a fall in the ice in January! She broke ribs which pierced her lung. This was not discovered at the time and she ended up some weeks later very seriously ill with infected fluid on her lung. She has now been in hospital almost three weeks and after the drain has been taken out of her lung it has not reflated as it should have done. To add to her troubles, she now has bedsores and is still unable to breath and is on very heavy doses of painkillers. She is still unable to get out of bed. All this is after bravely battling breast cancer last year!
Queen Jay only started her Chapter a few months ago so we do wish her a very speedy recovery so she can again return to the fun & friviolity of Red Hatting very soon
Anyone wishing to send Jen Queen Jay a message of support please e-mail Linda Queen LindyLou for her address
