Ruby Belles ~ Add Your Poem Here ~ Send to Linda Queen LindyLou

A Poem for Queen LindyLou

There comes a time in a woman’s life when we need something more

As time goes by a life slows down, we feel different than before,

Get out more that’s the reason why we joined a Red Hat club

And we have a meeting every month down at our local pub.

Now every club has certain rules that we know we must obey

Like wearing red hats and purple clothes on our special day.

But the most important rule of all. Followed by everyone

Is  enjoy yourself be happy and have lots and lots of fun.

We were asked to give our club a name, to be chosen by us girls

And after many bright ideas, we chose The Ruby Belles.

So when we’re out on our fun nights, all of us Red Hatters

We don’t care what others think, it really doesn’t matter.

For we look  majestic in purple and magnificent in red

And even more amazing with hats upon our head.

So when people stop and stare at us and give some bawdy sniggers

We just look back, give a cheeky wink, and say  Yes , Red Hat, No Knickers.

Tonight’s a very special night, a special celebration

For we’re gathered here tonight for Our Queen’s initiation.

So all stand up and raise your glass and join us in a toast

To LindyLou our founder, our Queen and lovely host.

Ode to the Ruby Belles

As women of a 'certain age', we've gelled together well
And we all enjoy the distinction of being a RUBY BELLE
Different shapes and sizes, and different backgrounds too
We're happy to be playmates of our dear Queen LindyLou
On buses, trains, and in the street our red and purple's noticed
And those who join will soon find out - on fun we're firmly focused!

REDHATTING

Resplendently Regal
Effervescently Eager
Dollies and Dames
High Jinks and Hilarity
Assured Absolutely
Totally
Tested and Truly
In Your Face-
Never Unnoticed
Go Girls!

The Ruby Belles are Swinging out
To 'wring' the pleasures from the trip
Arrayed in fuschia colours bright
We'll drink and eat 'till late at night
Our ringing tones will greet the dawn
Our faces may be old and worn ( mine in particular!)
But still we'll peal to greet the morn
We'll stumble on and mumble on
Our memories may well be gone
But we know time is ever fleeting
And such a joyous meeting
We will make the most of it!

Convention

Though I'm new here I will mingle
Join the laughter it's no crime
Slurp the Liquor
Even Quicker
Come on girls it's party time
Eat the food you need to fatten
Belly dancing needs the weight
Don the Gear
Shake your rear
Make the grade it's not too late
Saturday we must be dressy
Slit the skirt, Bare your shoulders
Make a show
Bling aglow
A Red Hatter never moulders
When it's Sunday we'll be leaving
Have to say "Goodbye New friend"
Hugs and Kisses
Sad as this is
Red Hat fun will never end

Red Hats and Fate

You are being made redundant my boss announced to me
My world collapsed in seconds, the future what's to be?
The usual round of going out in London was the norm
And being nutty sometimes was very much my form
Where would I find another group who liked the same as me?
Who liked the thought of alcohol but sometimes maybe tea!
I decided to be positive and treat it as a test
And think of things to do for me that were only for the best
I saw a shop was opening, one that needed volunteers
So went along to register forgetting all my fears
And there I met an old friend, we use to throw some darts
In pubs around the area but ladies we weren't tarts!
She told me of a group to join and would I like to go
She said she was the Vice Queen and I thought - hold on a mo!
What has this girl been doing, her husband was the mayor
Does he know her sideline, does he even care?
She said the group wore red hats - that could bring some
                                                                             snickers
As years the saying I remember being, wear Red Hat, no
                                                                            knickers!
But Baroness Bookworm turned out to be the girl I use to know
Who hadn't turned to Vice in the years from long ago
So I joined the RHS and found that I could do
All the things I like to do and with nice people too
So ladies I am thankful I went to the shop that day
And found an old acquaintance and what she had to say
It's weird what life chucks at you, can be bad or great
But bad can sometimes be good, it's always down to fate!
