Love is where you find it
Not necasarilly where you want to find it

Love all whom you hold dear
Prescious is the time you share
Do not wait for tomorrow
For tomorrow may not be there

The clock of life is wound but once
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour
Now is the only time you own
Live, Love, Toil with a will
Place no faith in time
For the clock may soon be still

Age does not protect you from Love
But Love can protect you from Age

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized

for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world,

real or imaginary.

We know we take responsibility

for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER,

upon reflection,

we would like to point out

that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

      The melody out of music,
    The pride out of appearance,
    The courtesy out of driving,
    The romance out of love,
    The commitment out of marriage,
    The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
    The learning out of education,
    The service out of patriotism,
    The Golden Rule from rulers,
The nativity scene out of cities,
    The civility out of behavior,
    The refinement out of language,
    The dedication out of employment,
    The prudence out of spending,
The ambition out of achievement, or,
God out of government and school.

And we certainly are NOT the ones

who eliminated

patience and tolerance

from personal relationships and interactions with others!!

And, we do understand the meaning

of patriotism,

and remember those who have fought and died

for our country.

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party......   even if it lasts until 8 p.m.
I'm very good at opening childproof caps...   with a hammer.
I'm usually interested in going home before I get to where I am going.
I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.
I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.
I'm very good at telling stories; over and over and over and over...
I'm aware that other people's grandchildren are not nearly as cute as mine.
I'm so cared for --- long term care, eye care, private care, dental care.

I'm not really grouchy,

I just don't like:

traffic,

waiting,

crowds,

politicians,

unruly kids,

barking dogs,

and a few other things

I can't seem to remember right now.

The following two poems are written by Margaret Randall a former carer from Brighton who nursed her husband John for 15 years when he developed Parkinson's Disease

Whilst very sad, it is important always to remember however ill someone may become they are still the same person within

            Remember I'm Still Me

                    I know I'm growing shaky
                    My tremors I can't hide
But please remember when we meet
                    That I'm still 'me' inside

My words may not come easily
                     For you to understand
But can't you see, I really want
To smile and shake your hand

Don't leave me in the corner
                    Forgetting I'm still there
I'm part of life the same as you
                  And need your loving care

Fate had dealt this sorry blow
                       It cannot be denied
But remember, when you look at me
                    That I'm still 'me' inside

              Please Say My Name

You use to know me once, dear
You use to call my name
                We were so close together
                Before your illness came
We shared our tears and laughter
                Our rapport was so good
I only had to catch your eye
                And you always understood
                But now you don't remember
                I see that vacant gaze
To you I'm just a stranger
Who helps you through your days
I try not to let it hurt me
And yet, Of course, it does
                I only hope you understand
                The measure of my love
Sometimes I sense 'the old you'
                A smile, a laugh, a touch
If only you could say my name
Yes, that would mean so much
