
Masters Handling - Students in this class should be competing at the AKC Open and/or USDAA Advanced levels or higher or with the permission of the instructor.
Novice Handling - Students in this class should be able to compete at the Novice level. The dog should be able to come when called, be controlled off-leash, sit, down, stay, and successfully perform all of the agility obstacles or with permission of the instructor.
Gamblers - Students in this class should be competing in Novice Gamblers or higher. The dog should be able to come when called, be controlled off-leash, sit, down, stay, and successfully perform all of the agility obstacles or with permission of the instructor.
Agility Skills - Specifically addressing the 3 principal skills required of the dog in agility: contact performance, jumping, weaving. Contacts: employing stair-steps and targeting establishes a foundation for 2 on / 2 off contacts that emphasizes fast "bottoms" through the dogs true understanding of his proper position. Jumping: using a specially developed jump chute exercise that encourages tight jump wraps through timely verbal and positional cues. Weaves: making use of the channel method coupled with targeting one can dramatically increase weave speed and develop truly independent weaves.
Beyond Basic Agility - Dogs in this class should be able to (at a minimum) come when called, be controlled off-leash, sit, down, stay, perform a line of 3 jumps, front-cross, targeting, tire, tunnel, chute, base of contact performance. Contact instructor for more information.
Obstacle Performance - Dogs in this class should be able to (at a minimum) come when called, be controlled off-leash, sit, down, stay. Dogs must have completed an obedience class and the Flatwork: Foundation for Agility class or with permission of the instructor. Contact instructor for more information.
Flatwork: Foundation for Agility - No previous agility experience is necessary. Dogs must have completed an obedience class and be able to walk on loose leash, sit and down on command.
Gamblers class - February 2008
