One Day at a Time
Sunday 6th April, 2008
Wednesday 8th August

So much has happened since I was on this site.

We have had our National Conference here in Perth.

Joan has finally come home from hospital after 3 months but is not doing as well as Mum would like.

Val and Sava came for a visit with Joanne and Adam and all the family came home here to see them.
I have been in respite for the last week at Kinross Care Centre, it was lovely there so long as I stay away from the end where the Watttle is and also from the activity centre where they have the dog!
We are booking me in to go back there in December so Gra can have a break again.
This morning I have had another Basal Cell cancer removed from my face, only 12 stitches this time (the one on my back was 19 stitches).
Next week I am hoping to go into an Ebixa trial at McCusker Foundation.
I have an appointment on Tuesday to see if I qualify.
It will be good to see how I go on it because I know so many of the American folks have done so well on it.
Sharon's Brother Victor is coming out of hospital this week.
I hope they have rally beaten this bug that has caused so much trouble, we don't want that again.
Enough for now, I will try to remember to write more often.
Trouble is I forget it is here.

Monday, 19th March
Surprisingly we were up fairly early, I guess we knew we had a long trip ahead of us.
I guess it shows we are getting older, we would never have considered 600 kms a long trip 10 years ago.  I used to think nothing of driving the 750 kms to Perth on my own.
Any way, we got up and got done at a leisurely pace.
Gra packed the car while I did a final check and clean up.
We spent about 1/2 hour talking to the young couple who own the place, they are lovely and I know they will make a real go of the place, they have certainly got it looking nice and do a great job.
We left Kalbarri about 10am and headed for Geraldton, had to drop some bits off at Gerald and Sylvie's place on the way home.
We stopped at the S bend 25 kms south of Geraldton for lunch and just took it easy before going on down to Dongarra to see Claudia, Bill and the kids.
Lochie is doing beautifully, he is a real red head now.  I can't believe how much he has grown in 5 weeks since we saw him last.
Penn is as lovely as ever and Claudia and Bill seem to be doing well with the work involved with a toddler and a new bub.
Bill had managed to score a crayfish and had cooked it for us, sad that we had already had lunch!
Penn decided to share mine, her first taste of cray, she loved it.!
Left there mid afternoon and drove on to Perth, arrived home about 7 pm and Gra went and got take away for tea so I didn't have to worry about cooking.
Then it was into bed, it had been a long day.
Sunday 18th March
Our last day in Kalbarri!
A very relaxed day.
Spent time reading, talking, swimming and exercising in the pool.
Went for a walk to have a look at some of the places be hadn't seen around town and up a dirt road (I was worried about the car because it is just a hatchback and not 4 wheel drive).
Also spent a lot of time debating if we should see if the villa was available for a bit longer.
Decided against it, we need to travel home tomorrow if we want a free day at home before it all starts again down there.
This break has done us so much good.
I can understand now why the 'grey power' group go north each winter and south each summer in their caravans, although I must admit I prefer this 4 star type living.
Lorretta and Bruno have been so good to us. We can certainly recommend this place to anyone.
It would be ideal to come with one of the families, they could be upstairs while we are downstairs.
We found out from some of the locals that this is the only place here with such good disabled facilities so we were blessed to be directed to it.
God is so good! He certainly knows how to bless us in a great way.
We also packed up most of our stuff today ready for the trip home tomorrow.  That is the only down side to such a great break.
If we come again I think we will fly in and hire a car here!
Saturday 17th March
Had a quiet morning then Chris, Marian, Jodie and Sharelle came up for lunch.
Typical if Chris, we hadn't hasd the chance to really catch up for a couple of years so he drove 150 kms each way for lunch!
They haven't changed, he still teases the girls mercilessly but the are all great fun.
Went for another swim after they left then had a short rest before going out.
We were really pleased to find that Sun City church have a meeting in Kalbarri on Saturday  so we went and met some of the locals there.
Had a lovely time and came home with a lovely sunset.
Quiet dinner then relaxed and read before a fairly early night.
Friday March 16th
What a lovely day,
got up late because we had a late night, even Gra is sleeping in these days.
Its good to see him relaxing;
Tried to go swimming when we got up but the water was very cold so will wait until later to do my exercises.
It does feel good though to be able to do them each day.
Today we went to the bird park.
What a great place, they are a breeding program for endangered parrot species as well as having lovely examples of so many non threatened birds.
Unfortuately they are not as tame as the ones in Albany so they are caged for the most part rather than in an open cage and we were not alllowed to feed these ones.
The say they have over 100 different species of of parrots and I can believe it, I took 127 photos while I was  there - too many to put into this but I will make up a photo album on the site of some of the highlights of our trip.
Later in the afternoon, just before sunset I finally got to go fishing.
All I caught was a 2" silver bream which managed to get off the hook as I threw in when I tried to use it for bait.
Never mind at least I got to wet the line.  I would have loved to have had the crab nets that some of the others had!
Had another BBQ  for tea and watched 'Over the Hedge" before we went to bed
Thursday 15th March, 2007

Slept in again today – really slack.

Loretta came and told Graham that she has organised for us to just order and pick up a nice meal at Echo Beach restaurant whichever night we like. The restaurant is upstairs so I can’t get to it. Gra went and collected a menu, we will probably do it tomorrow evening.

Graham read a lot while I worked on my “Spiritual Care” powerpoint.

I remembered that I hadn’t booked for our 10 pin bowling on Wednesday so got the number and organised that.  Rang Jennie and she will put the details in the newsletter on Sunday.  Hope we get a good turnout.

In the afternoon  we went to the Bird breeding park. Its an amazing place, they have a great breeding program for endangered members of the parrot family.  I didn’t know there were so many parrot types in the world – let alone in Australia .

Went for a drive to the other end of town on the way home and had a look at the jetty where the boats come in to off load the crays and fish, might pay them a visit Saturday morning and see if we can get some crays at a reasonable price for dinner Saturday night.

Watched ‘The Passion of the Christ’ this evening – I still find it hard to watch yet I appreciate that it is probably the closest depiction of what actually happened that I will ever see.  I it is a sobering film and I am so grateful for what Jesus did for me.

Its now after midnight so I should go to bed.  Probably means I will sleep in again tomorrow but who cares.

Haven’t been fishing yet, Gra isn’t keen so may miss out.

Wednesday 14th March

Had a very quiet day.

Spent most of the day relaxing and in the pool.

Even did all my hydrotherapy exercises!

Did some reading for my conference talks and went to the shops.

Went to the Chemist to get Gra his Omega 3 caps which we left in Perth .  I found some nice sleepers and also some green studs so bought both.

Did lots of talking.

Had a fairly early night.

Tuesday 13th March

I slept in!

Got up and had breakfast then Gra and I sat and just chatted and relaxed.

I rang up and found that there was a boat trip up the river this evening, leaves 5 pm so I booked us on it.

Did some reading in preparation for National conference presentation.

We had a lovely trip on the Murchison Queen, a river boat, supposed to be 2 ½ hours but the tide was in so we got further than they normally can go.  I think the skipper wanted to show up the young chap who took the morning trip and said he had got some extra distance.

In any case it was a lovely trip, saw lots of kangaroos, they dig holes for fresh water in the sand quite close to the river even though it is salt water.

Also saw wild goats and lots of birds, including osprey, eagles, cormorants, black swans (too far away to get photos), Mullaways, pelicans and several different types of seagulls.  Some of the seagulls actually came and took food from the hands of people who held it out to them while the boat was moving.

We got back to the river mouth in time to watch the sunset, it was lovely.  We took heaps of photos but will probably not keep all of them ( I think we took about 60 altogether).

When we got home I cooked veges while Gra again BBQ’d this time some sausages.

I think we will try to catch one of the crayfish boats coming in tomorrow and get a cray for tea.

Gra is just watching Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis in At war with the Army, then we will go to bed.

MOnday 12th March 2007

The others had gone by the time we got up.

Went to see Chris Sorohan on our way out of town, they may visit us in Kalbarri on the weekend.

Had morning tea at Northhampton on our way through, then took the new Coast Road to Kalbarri.

The road bypassed Port Gregory but went around the salt works, some of the ponds were bright pink. Apparently the pink is caused by algae when the salt crystals are forming and this means those ponds are now no good.  (W€e found out in Kalbarri that some of the colour is caused by Garnet dust - apparently they abound in the area - wish we had known we would have had some fun fossiking, I would have love some Garnett jewelery we had made from garnets we had found ourselves)

We stopped to look at Island Rock, Shell house grandstand, Mushroom rock and Red Bluff (so named by Wilhem Vlamingh in 1697.)

Then we went on into Kalbarri and found Blue Ocean Villas, where we are staying, in time for check in at 2 pm .

When we checked in the owners gave us a $50 voucher for a meal at one of the nicer restaurants which  we will probably use Friday evening.

They are lovely 2 story villas.  Ours is the disabled one, has a great bathroom with the best shower set up I have seen in any of the places we have stayed.

Gra says the upstairs is lovely, I haven’t been up because it is a little winding staircase to get up there.

No need to go up really, I have every thing I want down here.  A spacious, well equipped kitchen, laundry with a good washing machine and a very comfortable bed in a large bedroom.

The living room comes equipped with a large glass topped dining table and lovely wrought iron chairs with cushions to match the 2 large (ample 2 seater) sofas.  There is a T.V and DVD player as well as a sound system/cd player.

The kitchen has a large fridge/freezer, full stove and a microwave.

I love the bright china they have used to equip the place.

After unpacking we went for a swim in the pool.  I was good and did what I could remember of my hydrotherapy exercises.  It’s a lovely salt water pool.

We went for a walk across the road to the IGA and bought a few extra bits and pieces – no small fish hooks though, apparently they expect you to catch big fish.

Graham cooked a bbq for tea and I made a salad.

T.V. reception is not so good but did watch for a while before a fairly early night.

Sunday 11th March 2007

First we went to church, Ps. Vin preached.

I chatted with folks after church while Gra went back for the forgotten items from home.

Left for Geraldton from the church.

We stopped at Cataby for lunch then on to Geraldton and stayed with Sylv, Gerald and kids.

Steph gave us her bed.

Friday February 16th
I can't believe it is so long since I added to this site.
Life has been incredibly hectic.
Just in the last few weeks we have had so much happening.
Claudia and Bill now have a lovely little son, Lochlan Sean who's photo is above. He was born at King Edward Hospital Perth on 5th February.
We were thrilled to have Claudia and Penn stay with us in the weeks leading up to his birth and then Dad came down and cared for Penn while Claudia was in hospital with Lochy.
As well, in the midst of it all, Richard had major back surgery and then had a fall the day after he came out of hospital so Gra had numerous trips to the hospital and to specialists and doctors with him..He is doing well now but will be a further 7 weels before he is able to return to work.
To add to the confusion and turmoil our Homeswest Unit came available and we have moved house.
It is great to see it all taking shape.
God has been so good to us in all of it.
The unit is perfect for us and was all set up with all I needed including ramps, rails etc.
It has 2 bedrooms and a livingroom/kitchen and best of all a vegetable garden (no veges at present though) and room in the front garden to plant our roses.
I have made new curtains and Gra is about to hang all our paintings and our family photo gallery.
All in all it has been a hectic but now its over a very satisfying time.
We will have a few busy weeks ahead with the Impact World Tour team arriving this weekend and here for over a month but we are heading off for a complete break in 3 weeks - no computer, not even a mobile phone- and a lovely relaxing time by the river where I can go fishing and Gra will go kayaking.
Hopefully it won't be so long before I update again
December 24th

What a lovely Christmas.

It was busy but so nice to see the family.
Firstly Anthea and her young ones came, then Richard and his family.
Richard, Sharon and family as well as Robyn, Luke and Jesscame for dinner at night.
I can't believe how all the young ones are growing up so fast.
I wish I could add all their photos here but can't fit them all in.
I will see if I can add a photo album for Christmas photos as well.
Jess does not look like a girl who is almost 13 - more like 17 or 18 these days.  Acts very mature as well.  What beautiful Grandchildren we have.!

Wednesday 15th November
I can't believe how long it has been since I came in here to update this..
So much has happened.
Firstly we have had a wonderful trip to Europe.
We went to Berlin to attend the ADI conference there.
What a great experience.
We met with people involved with dementia from all around the world.
There were wonderful people presenting from all areas of involvement, professionals who lead the field of dementia care and those who are the leading lights in dementia research.  Alongside them were people who are caring both professionally as  well as family carers.
It was great to see so many countries represented amongst the people with dementia who attended the conference.  10 different nations in our meeting with Marilyn our ADI council representative.
It was great to meet face to face with people I consider close and special friends from around the globe.  DASNI folks who were also at the conference.
Noteable amongst those were Lynn Jackson, our past president, Christine and Paul Bryden,(whose photo appear with this) I always look forward to catching up again with them whenever possible, Peter and Ann Ashley, Dr Mitch, Richard and Lynda Taylor and David Turner Snr and Jnr.
Unfortunately the 2 sessions where the people with dementia were mainly presenting ran concurrently so we were unable to be there to support each other however the conference organisers kindly organised to have the presentations recorded so I have now been able to watch both Peter and Richard's presentation.
I am waiting for the tape of Christine and myself to see if I really did do as poorly as I felt I did or if the others were right and it all came out so well.
We had a DASNI dinner one night and that was great although we were all tired and anxious about our presentation the next day.
I forgot to say that on the way to Germany we had a stop over in Singapore, what a beautiful city that is.
I would love to go back for another visit sometime when we have more time to spend.
After the conference we had time to visit Potsdam and get an idea of the place my forfathers migrated from.
What a wonderful place it looks to be.
I am so glad I had the chance to go back and see it all even if it was such a rushed visit.
After Germany we spent a few days in England and were thrilled to be able to catch up with Chelsea Pitman.
I loved the history in England.  The highlights of our sightseeing were Westminster Abbey and the Churchill Museum.
I'd love to have the chance to go back some day and spend longer but definitely staying further from the centre of London and we will know not to catch a Cab. Those Black Cabs surely know how to charge! 20 British pounds for about 3 Kms if we had gone by the most direct route.  We didn't realise just what the cabbie was doing at the time, but when we walked to almost the same place the following day we saw just how ripped off we had been., he must have taken a large loop to get there.
The other time was on the way to the airport at Heathrow, 20 minutes drive, when we finally saw our bank statement, (they had asked us to pay by credit card when we booked) it had cost $164 Aust..
Inspite of that, it has been a great experience.  Who would ever have thought that at our age we would start globe trotting.
There have been more adventrues but they can wait to see if I have time tommorow.
ON Monday we are headed for Sydney and after the teleconference I will be able togo down to the South Coast and stay with Kev for a few days and get to see Mum, Joan and Val as well.
Wednesday 13th September
Had a lovely day at Kings Park with MAC's.
Sat and talked to start then had BBQ lunch and went walking in the gardens and around the lake.
Its good to spend time with our friends.
God is so good, we see his beauty in all the wildflowers but I especially love the Boronia and we saw a few colours today that I haven't seen before.
Monday, September 4th
Why does there always have to be so much strife?
Richard still doesn't have everything sorted for his house and he is supposed to move tomorrow.
All the fuss is still going on on the message board.
Still don't know if I am resigning as president.
I need to get to understand what all the fuss is about with the non-profit laws. I've downloaded the relevant ones now but will have to wait for my head to clear before I try to understand them
Have a doctors appointment after C.A. C meeting tomorrow - hope my blood pressure goes back down by then.  Seems it is improving - ony 2 blood noses today and that is a good sign.
I need to make my mind up soon about the presidency - can't keep them hanging for too long.
I will be sad if I have to call it a day but I can't afford to have all the stress either - it leaves me more easily confused and more forgetful.
Didn't go to IWT office today but did some work at home.
Janine and Eric's wedding cake is coming on nicely, should get it finished by Friday then that will be one less thing to worry about.
Friday 1st September
What a great day.
I finished the newsletter for Sunday, Gra went to copy it for me because I had 'Life We're still in it' group at Alzhiemers Australia W,A.
We had a wonderful morning, worked on a mosaic for the staff outdoor area.
Dell and Bee came again to help us.
They had drawn  the branch of a lemon tree.
It was really taking shape.
Eveyone made a fuss of my Birthday.
Dennis gave me our tickets for Berlin and Wendy and I did some planning for Singapore.
Had a call from the school - my poster is too big for them to laminate as it is so I brought it home and rearranged it so it can be laminated in 2 pieces and then I will put them together.
Robyn and Jess came and so did Rick, Sharon, Ricky, John and little Sharon.
What a lovely surprise.  It is lovely to see them all on my birthday. I have been really spoiled.
Gra bought me a new chain for my cross, the other one broke a few months ago and I have just been wearing it on a cheap old chain, this is a lovely gold one like the cross.
I had a lovely chat with Claudia, Penn had a lovely birthday.
Who knows if we might get next birthday together.
Enough for one night, I'm bombed and heading for bed.
Monday 28th August
Had a great day, hosted chat then went to work in the IWT office for the day.
Finally got to meet Clinton and Maj-Britt the Region 1 team leaders.
It was a busy day and I got extremely tired.
Its great to see everything coming together for the tour.
Sunday 27th August, 2006
had a lovely day, Seniors Focus at church,
I shared my testimony, all the MACS sang One day at a time.
The band played 'When the Saints go marching in' while the seniors were coming up and getting ready because I had told them that MACs didn't stand for Mature Aged Citizens but it should be MACS, which stands for Mighty Active Christian Seniors.  They all loved it.
Gra brought a great word about Why a lion roars.
We had a great response and prayed for almost everyone there in relation to involvement in the Impact World Tour. Great stuff.

Wednesday 23rd August
Wow, what a day,
Went shopping with Robyn for clothes to take to Berlin and London.
We hit exactly the right time,
Maggie T had their final markdown on their winter clearance.
Tag price of the clothes I bought $1800.00, I paid $350 now I call that shopping.
2 lovely tailored suits, both with trousers, a new skirt to go with the black jacket, a pair of stretch trousers to travel in  for comfort and 3 new tops.
It feels so good to get back into really top class clothes again.
I gave Gra a shock when I got home, just told him I had bought clothes worth $1800.00, he settled when I told him what I had paid for clothes worth that much.
Rob is so good to go clothes shopping with, she has a real eye for what will look good on me.
Saturday 12th August
I'm afraid I fogot about this site until I had a remeinder from them
Thank goodness they keep track if we forget.
Its been a mixed few weeks, firstly time in bed, then busy, busy, busy.
So what have I been doing, firstly had a number of meetings, Consumer Advisory meeting, Life, we're still in it, Living with memory loss support group as well as chuch, especially the Transform Perth rallies which were great.
I did better than Gra did there, I was inside in the warm, Gra was outside directing cars where to park!!
Considering how wet and cold I  am glad I had my job not his.
I am going to be helping with Admin work for the Impact World Tour events in Perth next year - really looking forward to that.!
As well I have been getting things ready for Berlin.
Almost finished the Poster Board display.
Gra bought me a laminator to make life easier.
Its been fun collecting all the old photos to do some history of DASNI as well as marking things off on the map to show where we all are and printing up people's comments on how DASNI has helped them
We have had some problems with wild ducks, teals.
Normally I would welcome all wild life but these folks think our pool is a great food supply and you can see how many of the fish they have cleaned out.
Have put a large white plastic over part of the pool to flap around and scare them off.
Pity, they looked so nice swiming on the pool before we saw them diving. I always thought they were vegetarians but have learned different the hard way.
the other thing that is keeping me out of mischief is the cake and flowers for a wedding.
Started on the flowers for the top of the cake today - they are looking good,  I am happy with them I hope the bride is when she comes on Tuesday.
We are going to make the boquets out of silk flowers together which should be fun.
enough for today I must back to the cake flowers
Monday, 24th July.
Took things easy today.
not much to report.
Wish I could get the best of this asthma.
Saturday, 22nd July
Been in bed since we took the kids home,
Just a bug but it meant that I was aching all over and got dizzy each time I tried to stand up or move around.
Felt well enough to go out with Gra today to get the wireless components for the computers.
Big mistake.
Frustration ++++
Rang the people at the shop a number of times,
sent Gra out for a ethernet cable and they gave him a lead cable instead.
Spent 21/2 hours, 4 phone calls and a number of emails to the support desk for the wireless setup only to find out our things were not compatable with the products they had sold us.
Will take them back Tuesday when we go to McCusker.
Tuesday 18th July
Busy day,
We picked up John and Shazie and went tenpin bowling.
Would you believe it? Grandma Won!!
Of course Pop reckons its only because they had the gutter guards in but he hit them too so I guess we are even.
I,m paying for it already!
After bowling we came home and got lunch, party pies, sausage rolls and spring rolls with chips.
After lunch we made rocky road and then the young ones played chasie in the back yard.
2 accidents, Shazie got a skinned shin then Jess was a bit more serious, fell over a brick retaining ball onto a pipe left up in the ground and hurt her side and has some big bruising coming on her legs as well.
Rang Robyn and took them all home.
Seems I have been calling Jess Robyn all day, much to her disgust.
I wasn't confused as to who she is, just got the name wrong.
Monday, July 17th, 2006
Rang for appointment - next Monday.
Kaye the Occupational Therapist from ACAT came about the ramp and rails.
Ramp can be fixed or replaced.
They can't fit rails as the walls are asbestos.  They do have a stool though that will help me get up.
It was good to see Kaye again.  She lovedthe fish pond and took photos of it.
Jess and Robyn arrived just after lunch.
Robyn took the finished PC bears with her.
The really liked the new designs.
Jess has her braces off! She is looking more beautiful all the time.  She has grown into a lovely young lady.
We made the rest of the wedding cake today and Jess plans on staying up with me to see how it turns out.
She says the late night won't stop her from beating Pop tomorrow at bowling.
Sunday, 16th July, 2006
Great chruch meeting.
Impact World Tour folks came.  Sounds like a great time ahead.  Will get involved.
Watoto lunch was great.
Talked with most of our M.A.C's folks.
Maisie is in hospital with pneumonia.  Will try to go to visit but the next few days are pretty full on.
Still feeling tired.  I think it is the lack of oxygen from asthma.
Spoke to Sharon, she is not so well again.
John and Shazie are coming bowling with us on Tuesday while Jess is here.
Need to try and help Sharon if I can.
Saturday July 15th
Finally have results from Germany!
Poster abstract accepted.
Younger onset talk accepted but missed out on the Spirituality one, or at least it is on standby in case anyone pulls out so will prepare it anyway.
Heard from Brian that his poster abstract has been successful as well.
It will be interesting to hear how many others from DASNI will be speaking as well.
Shonique has been in hospital ? appendix.  Anthea will ring later and let us know if she is to have surgery.
Finished some more bears, I now have 3 of each colour ready.
Shonique is coming home, looks like a false alarm so that is good.
Friday 14th July. 2006
Anxious day waiting on results from Germany.
Still nothing this evening.
We need to allow for the time difference.

I guess tomorrow will give us an answer.
Jess is coming to stay Monday for a few days.
That is something to really look forward to.
Went to visit Isa and Phil this afternoon.
Isa looks better. She has to go back to hospital for check on Tuesday.  Will contact her again after that.
Forgot to ring Prof. for appointment, will have to ring Monday.
Thursday July 13th
Sasha an I have been making the first layer of the wedding cake.
took forever to cook but has turned out well.
Dennis has our organisation for Berlin in hand.
Tomorrow is D Day as far as abstracts go.
Can't wait to hear what will happen.
Saw Dr. no change in meds.  Have to see Prof. Robinson again about my chest. Will ring tomorrow for an appointment.
Going back to see Dr. Rappaport again in 2 weeks.
Wednesday 12th July
M.A.C.'s this morning.  Only Maxine and Murray came but we had a good and I think profitable time together.
Ps. John and Jenny joined us for lunch.
Maisie wasn't able to come because of a cold and chest trouble.
We played Magic Memories and they really enjoyed it.
Plan to do it again when things really get going.
The money has come from ADI so I contacted Dennis by email to set things in motion.
Alz. will do all the bookings and registration which will be great.
Tuesday 11th July
What a wonderful surprise, Gavan, Trish, Candace and Isaac came for a visit.
They were up in Perth to buy a new work vehicle for Gav.
Boy the kids have grown.
Trish is working at Kingdom Kids doing the meals.
It was so good to see them. I miss them all so much.
Anne rang again this afternoon.
She is a real sweetie.  She will be away for 7 weeks - going home to Scotland for a visit.
We will miss her.
Afternooon I finished the powerpoint for M.A.C.'s tomorrow.
I hope we have some come this time.
Evening - seems the money from ADI has arrived as our account has been boosted.  I will check in the morning.

Monday, July 10th
First meeting of National Consumer Committee - teleconference.
Went well, not sure I had much of value to add this time.
Afternoon went shopping.
Gra took Shonique's new Bible over to her.
Had a long talk with Anne McLean in the afternoon. Feel a bit better afterwards.
Sunday 9th July
Lovely church meeting.
Chatted with Shirley and Cliff,  Claire and Allan, and Maxine. Spent some time with Maisie. Organised to pick her up for M.A.C.'s  on Wednesay.
Isa is in hospital, no info yet on which one.
Will try to find out so we can visit.
After Church we went to the Chemist to pick up my Fosimax then to EzyGro for the orchid show.  Gra bought me a lovely deep red orchid. 5 flowers on the spike but only 1 spike.  2 flowers open, others won't be long.
Friday 7th July
Went into our early stage support group today.
the plan was to introduce them to the chat room.
Wrong!!
We still can't access the chat room from the DMCC computers so settled for just showing them the message board.
Ric and Esther have both joined DASNI today.
It was all a bit much for most of us, I'm surely tired out so it must have been harder for the others.
I just wish that there weren't so many things that are not working the way I want them to.
Came home and found Gra had bought me a new Electric Frypan. A lovely large one.
I think tonight will be an early night
Thursday 6th July
Robyn came to collect the next batch of bears - they have sold about 100 this week so far and still need more.  I had 25 ready for her.
Went shoppping with Sasha.
Went to Peters and Browns first then to IGA - bought all the goodies for Janine and Eric's wedding cake.
Tired again - I wonder why?
Tuesday 4th July
Had a Consumer Advisory Committee meeting at Alzheimer's W.A, this morning.
It is so good to be able to have some input into how the problems faced by people with dementia can be addressed.
Monday, 3rd July

Hosted chat then we went on a shopping spree, bought clothes, cottons, materials, some bits for the car, I got new boots, slippers and Gra got moccasins, track suit and DVD's.
It was great to be able to spend up big!

Sunday 2nd July
Great day, beautiful church service
Spent time chatting with Janine about the wedding cake.
Also caught up with some of our seniors about next weeks meeting.
Phil and Isa away again, Isa is not well, I must remember to ring them.
Robyn, Luke and Jess came to visit in the afternoon and to pick up the bears that were ready to go.
Jess loved the new ones with fish and butterflies worked on them.
I really do enjoy doing these bears.
Saturday July 1st

Been busy working on the Perth College bears again.
The new lower school Principle has agreed to them wearing them on their blazer lapels so we expect a large increase in numbers needed when Jess starts selling them on Monday.

Friday, 30th June
Another week without being able to get to the computer to update my journal.
What a week it has been!
Monday was mostly spent getting ready for the Dying with Dignity conference as well as trying to catch up with emails and finishing up the unpacking from the move.
I contacted Alz. Australia W.A. about the lesser bursary for Germany.  Just waiting for a reply about thier continued involvement.
Tuesday and Wednesday we were at conference.
I must say that, listening to most of the speakers gives me increased hope for our future care.
Certainly they are aware of the problems that concern us in end of life issues.
Minister Mr. McGinty announced that they hope to get the Advanced Directives bill through parliament next week.  Certainly that will aleviate lots of concerns.
My talk Wednesday afternoon was very well received.
I couldn't believe how the DASNI brochures just went so quickly at afternoon tea time.  Sounds like I touched some chords somewhere.
Val from Denbarker also spoke, she was representing Huntingtons's people and I hadn't realised that she has been dx with it for a number of years now  She spoke very well.
People are starting to realise that the voices of the people who live with these conditions need to be heard.
Had an email from Dennis Lim at AAWA to encourage me to still go for the bursary so I have sent an email to ADI to accept the lesser amount - It will arive here in the next few weeks
Fairly quite day yesterday, slept until lunchtime then Sasha came and we made P.C. bears.
Apparently the students are to be allowed to wear them on their blazer lapels so we are expecting a steep rise in sales when Jess goes around the classes next week.
Hence the rush to get them made.

This morning saw the promised bonus arrive in our account for Graham as a carer so we went and had our interview for our passports.
Seems they were going up by $20 each tomorrow so it was just in time.
With the time as it is, I should head for bed.
Sunday June 18th
slept in and missed church
Woke up when it was almost lunchtime
A beautiful sunny day, the fish in the pool were loving it!
Very quiet day, I was worn out so decided to leave the rest of the unpacking for later in the week.
Went on line to check my emails, managed to get through quite a few, hopefully I will get the chance to reply to some tomorrow.
Will have to do better in regards to getting up tomorrow morning if I am to host the chat session.
Should find out tomorrow if I have received an ADI bursary to go to Berlin,
If it comes then we will go and put in the applications for the passports,  Its all very exciting.
Saturday 17th June
A whole week off the  computer!
I can't believe it, I did survive it however.
What a week it has been.
Moving house, clearing the old place out and moving into the new.,
I can notice the difference already, away from the carpets, I do think it will take time though to get back on top with this Asthma.
We have nearly finished sorting out most of the rooms.
I still have to set up and empty the boxes in my sewing and craft room.
We also have to study to set up yet so I am typing this with my laptop on a table just big enough to hold it.
As well as our house move this week we have been to a workshop on Quality Dementia Care, working out what we believe is acceptable or desirable in residential care for people with dementia.
It was to be a 2 or 3 hour workshop, finished up being 5 hours!  fortunately they provided a lovely lunch to keep us going.
Yesterday we went to the Launch of the Friendship Club brochure and I had the priveledge of speaking about the importance of including people with dementia in initiatives and using our skills.
All in all after such a busy week I am worn out,
I still have to catch up with so many emails and I am impressed with what I have read of the messages on our message board.
don;t know if I will get to this tomorrow, there are some extra pages I want to include, such as Alzheimer's Australia page, to show all the wonderful things they are doing.
I still have to write something with the photos of my young life and also the marriages of our children.
Enough for today though, I will put the photo of the new house in as soon as I get a chance to take one.
Must remember to include one of all the fish in what used to be the swimming pool as well.
Friday June 9th
Great excitement, we picked up the keys for the new place today.
We were able to take Claudia and Penn to see the new place before we took them back to the plane home.
Its so sad that they have to go back so quickly but will be back for another appointment end of August so that is not so far away.
This morning we carried on packing while Claudia sewed.  Penn thought a packing box was the ideal play ground.
We finally saw the large fish they were talking about at the new place!
Talk about big!  The old swimming pool has been turned into a fish pond with hundred or more fish of all sizes from babies to these big, 6 or 9 inch long ones. You should see them come when you throw the food into the pool.
I am expecting to spend many happy hours sitting on the swing just watching the fish.
