For much of the time I have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease
Alzheimer's Australia have been my wonderful support people.
Firstly Dianne, who introduced us to support progams and education about Alzheimers disease and later started me advocating for people with dementai and encouraged me to do a presentation at the Alzheimer;s national conference in Sydney.
When we lived in Albany we used to go to Living with Memory Loss program then we had the "Moving On' group that followed that program.
As well I had support from Cheryl, who was a lovely lady who helped me with shopping and sweing and other craft things.
She was the one who helped me put the 2 DASNI quilts together when the squares arrived from all around the world.
I also went to the Ladies Day Club at Hawthorn House where we did lots of good things.
When we moved to Perth we got involved with AAWA in Perth and we joined a support group again and later started going to Cappachino club,
As well I joined the Consumer Advisory committee and later Graham joined the committee as well.
Now I am part of the National Consumer Committee as well and we have been to Canberra for the Summit and also to other places for meetings.
ON Thursdays Sasha takes me shopping or does sewing or craft with me, whatever I want to do or she has good ideas if I don't know hwat to do.
Annie and Wendy from Support services and Anne and Paula from the other side really help me as well.
It is good to be part of a group like this and find the chance to help others as well as getting the hlep I need too.
