The Apostolic Society of St Brigid of Kildare
Pro Amore, Pro Victoria et Pro Gloria Dei!
Welcome to SSB

The Apostolic Society of St Brigid of Kildare is a religious order within the Catholic tradition, founded by Mtr Elizabeth Stuart and Fr Kevin Woodward in 2001.
We are a community of men and women, some of whom have taken vows of celibacy, some are married or in partnerships and some are single. Professed members may be either clerical, or lay brothers and sisters. Those joining us who wish to pursue Holy Orders may do so through the regularly established channels in the denomination or jurisdiction of their choice.

We live in our own homes and live and work in many
different parts of the UK.
Our mission is to follow the example of St Brigid of Kildare in practising the outrageous hospitality of God. We believe that gender and sexual orientation, along with race and class, are not of ultimate concern to God and so we seek to serve God and the world by praying for all and offering the sacraments to anyone who seeks them.

Members of the society do not take vows but promise to live a life of common prayer and ministry under the rule and constitution of the society.

Members live their lives structured around regular prayer with the support of a community. The society is a powerhouse of prayer, praying for the needs of the world and
witnessing to God's all embracing love. Members of the society in the clerical state  join millions of Christians worldwide in praying the Divine Office and offering Mass every day for the needs of the world.  Lay sisters and brothers say either Lauds and Vespers/Compline from the Divine Office, or the Rosary, morning and evening, in addition to receiving Holy Communion daily whenever possible. Clerical members may facilitate reservation of the Blessed Sacrament for lay Brethren and Sisters in their own homes.

Praying for the Needs of the World

If you have a prayer request please forward it to us by clicking here Your prayer request will be sent to all

members of ssb who will remember it in their devotions and at Mass.

We will also celebrate Mass for your intentions. We will, for example, offer Mass for your dear departed for thirty days after their death and once a month for the first year after their death.

Of course there is NO CHARGE for this service but if you wish to make a donation to the order to cover the cost of the bread and wine etc. please email us with your Mass intention and we will explain how you can make donations though these are entirely voluntary.

Serving the World

Priest members of the society are available to administer the sacraments of baptism, marriage, reconciliation and the eucharist as well as the sacrament of the sick and they will also take funerals. We will not refuse you because you do not go to church. We will not refuse you if you are gay. The sacraments are not ours, they are Christ's and we believe he would refuse himself to no one.

Some of our members specialise in healing, spirit-release and exorcism.
