 Praying for the Departed

The Apostolic Society of St Brigid is committed to praying for the dead.
We believe that in baptism all die and rise again and therefore the difference between the living and dead lies in the stages of the journey to God that the person is on rather than in any difference of nature.
We believe that the Church living and the Church departed is one and is never closer than in the celebration of the Eucharist.
We believe that after death the soul continues on it journey towards union with God through a process of purgation during which time the prayers of the living can aid those in a state of purgatory.
A priest member of the society will offer Mass for a departed soul every day for thirty days, then once a month until the first anniversary of death and then once year on the anniversary of death. All members will pray for those whose names are enrolled in our chantry register. Please send the name of your beloved dead and the date of their death to us at
