Can I?, Should I?, Would I?
Can I ride my child's pony at Club?
Unfortunately not.  Whilst many of us would like to jump on and sort out a naughty pony - this is not your place to do so.  If the Instructor deems it absolutely necessary then they may choose to do so (but only if they are a financial riding member of the Club).  Usually it is best to try and let the rider sort out any issues with the assistance of the Instructor.

Can I let someone else ride our Pony at Club?
Yes - if they are a financial member of a Pony Club then you should discuss the matter with our Chief Instructor in order to determine suitability of horse and rider combination.

We've never been to Club before, can we just rock up and join in?
No.  You must telephone our President first who will determine whether or not there is a suitable place in one of our colour groups.  We recommend that you attend unmounted first and see how our Rallies are run, what your committments are and whether or not you feel our Club is one which you'd like to join.

How much do I have to pay to come and try for the day?
$30.00 which covers State affiliation insurance, Club information booklet, 3 newsletters and also a $10.00 rally fee for each rally attended to cover instructor and lunch costs.   Should you wish to take out Membership then the $30.00 will be deducted from the $85.00 (first family member) fee.

How do I know which colour group my child will be placed?
There are 4 colour groups; Burgundy, Gold, Blue & Green. Our Instructors will assess their riding ability and place accordingly.  We take into account; age, ability, certificates already held and also availability.

Do you actively work through the Pony Club Syllabus?
Yes.  Each member has the opportunity to work towards Pony Club Certificates and patches. Just talk to our chief instuctor at the morning gear check.

What do the colour groups mean?
The colour groups are buddy and duty groups. Each rally, groups and individual riders will be awarded points which contribute to the Team End of Year Award.

I have a complaint to make, how should I do this?
Bring the matter up with either our Club Secretary or President on the day who will, if possible sort the matter out immediately or if our Executive needs to be involvement, will table at our next meeting.   Alternatively, write to our Executive at PO BOx 976, Strathalbyn 5255

I want to help, how can I?
Talk with any member of the Executive.  Any skills you can bring to the Club are always welcome.

Do I have to help at Club?
Oh yes indeedy!  Pony Clubs are run by (unpaid) volunteers and you are very much expected to help at Club/Zone and State levels.  Approximately 15 hours per annum is all that is required.

I really want to compete, how can I do this?
Firstly you must get a Performance Card - available from our Club Secretary or State office (
www.ponyclub.asn.au ).  This card is then signed at each Rally attended.  To compete you must have at least 4 qualifcations(attendances) signed on your card in the preceding 18 months. Each combination needs a card. This means if a rider has two ponies, they will need two cards.
