A Poem by Harry Allick
Red Hats

The colour of Red resembles contentment and warmth,

It’s the colour of Christmas, ripe berries and fruit,

Red also says Stop but it’s the colour of Zoom!

When I prepare and I dress for a meet,

The colour red is on my head and my feet.

My Red Hat says “Go girl let’s have some fun”

But sometimes my feet feel a little bit glum.

Let it not deter me from having a meet,

A joke in the café or a laugh in the street.

We’ll sort out this, and we’ll organise that,

But most of all, we’ll wear our Red Hat.

So come on and join us and let’s have some fun,

The red wine is flowing, so you needn’t be glum.

You might think you are thin, or think you are fat,

But what’s in a figure, when you wear a Red Hat ?

It’s a smile, a laugh, a joke and a clap,

Life’s not a bore when we wear our Red Hat.

And we’ll raise one finger, or maybe two,

To all the chores we have yet to do.
