Two of the Irish pups are really burning up the rubber doing agility these last couple of weeks.

Jan 3, 2009
Some of the Midwest Golden group went to a CPE trial today and had some good fun.
There were four of Abbi's babies in the 20" Level 1 & 2 Class at the CPE trial today. We were getting ribbed that it was a golden reunion specialty. Bryce and Chime were in Level 2. Keeper and Kerri were in Level 1 and their first trial ever. I had just entered my two (Chime and Kerri) in Snooker and Jumpers in the afternoon, so can only report on those classes. But ALL four of the Abbi pups Q'd in their two classes, jockeying back and forth for first and second places. And I have to say that all four were very fast!
Jan had talked me into entering Kerri, so we could see where Keeper and Kerri were in their training. I was a little reluctant, as I'm not near as far as dedicated Jan is in her training. I know Keeper Q'd in 4 of her runs. This gives Keeper her FIRST EVER AGILITY TITLE!!! CPE Level 1 Fun = CL1-F (Jumpers and Fullhouse Q's got her the title). WAHOO!!
Bryce also Q'd in one of his other classes. He always gets gasps of admiration when he runs because of his speed :-) Jo has become such a good handler for this very fast boy and he really knows how to run for her when he knows where he's going!
Watch out for Keeper!! I can see that MACH in her future, for sure!!!
Not bad for the two baby dogs who aren't quite 18 months old yet!
Momma Abbi stayed home and was proud of them from a distance. She's feeling very pregnant all of a sudden :-) Just over three weeks to go!
And I heard Abbi's other son, Juice, got a MXJ leg today with a first place!!!
What a day for Abbi's babies!
Dec 22, 2008 The Puppies are coming!!! Abbi's ultrasound at 28 days shows TEN puppies in there!!! Holy Smokes! Not bad for a 9 y.o. papa and 7.5 y.o. momma. Puppies are due Jan 26, 2009. This should be lots of fun!!!
PUPPIES ARE COMING!!
We spent Thanksgiving down in Ohio breeding Abbi one last time to the beautiful Collin, Ch Buckeye Standing Ovation. He and Abbi had a wonderful time together, trying to make as many babies as they could. Puppies should be here around January 26, 2009. Think positive thoughts that there will be lots of Abbi & Collin babies in January!
November 8-9, 2008
Congratulations to Bryce and his handler Jo for obtaining his first AKC title in agility, finishing his Novice Agility Jumpers title with three first places!! This from a puppy who was "just going to be a pet" and hang out at Jo's practice all day. Bryce let Jo and Anne know otherwise! I was very proud when I heard the audiance gasp "look at that golden go" when Bryce was doing his runs. Just like his momma Abbi.
And what a great weekend it was to run Bryce's brother Shiloh for his owner Linda Lowy. Linda drove up from Ohio and I got to run this very special boy for her, getting the two MX legs he needed to finish his agility Master Excellent title. He also got a QQ for his 7th double Q towards his MACH. What a year Shiloh has had! He spent all this year doing hunt tests, getting his Senior title this spring, then getting his Master Hunter title this fall. Then he came north to see Tom and I this weekend and ran in agility after a 10 month layoff from it. And he ran for me! What a well trained dog he is too. Linda has done a great job training him. He knows all kinds of moves that I can't seem to get my girls to do.
Congratulations to the Music brothers this weekend for a fantastic weekend. Momma Abbi is thrilled with her two Midwest Gaylan's boys!
We also want to send a big YAHOO to their brother Juice for getting an MX leg and an Excellent Fast leg at the Hudson Valley GRC agility trial last week! Juice also took a lot of time off from agility this summer to do field training and get his Senior Hunter title. Sounds like he's back in great form for the agility ring! Congratulations Paula!
GRCA National-Sept 19-28, 2008
We had a great time at the GRCA National, seeing a huge amount of Gaylan's relatives. We were able to get all the Irish Quints together with their momma Abbi, for a mini-reunion. Check out their picture! My, have they grown!!
And a huge congratulations to Jan Masica and Irish Quint Keeper on their passing the Tracking Dog test for Keeper's TD! She had a very fast track of only seven minutes. How cool is that to get your TD at the National!
Abbi also got a JH bumper leg, two Q's in Open Fast agility to finish her Open Fast title, a qualifying score in Grad-Novice, a good attempt at Open obedience, and finished the week passing our first Working Certificate test ever for her WC!!! Wahoo!

July 27, 2008
Congratulations to Jo and
Bryce
on getting his second NAJ leg and first NA leg, both with first places! These two are making us so proud. Especially when friends call and let me know how much Bryce reminds them of his momma Abbi when he runs in agility!
July 26, 2008
We're so proud of our little Chime, from the Music litter, for passing her 3rd Junior Hunter test. One more to go! She and I are having such a great time with this field stuff!
June 28, 2008
Congratulations to Abbi's son Juice on getting his second Senior Hunter pass, along with his cousin Brig.
This while nursing a healing laceration to his pad. He's a little accident prone, just like his momma was when she was his age
Very impressive for both boys!
June 21, 2008
Congratulations to Linda and Shiloh for completing his WCX with Mitch! This boy's talents just keep marching on!
June 14, 2008

Happy St Patricks Day!
Things have been kind of quiet around here.
Congratulations to Juice on finishing his Open Fast title.
We went to an agility trial in Columbus, Ohio last weekend and spent the day stuck in a motel while Columbus got 20" of snow. We did get out on Sunday and made it to the agility trial, where Abbi finished her Novice Fast title and got a Exc B Standard Q with a 4th place for more MACH points.
Spring arrives this week!!! YAHOO!!!
Dec 8, 2007
A big cheer for Chime on her AKC agility debut and getting two Q's in Novice Standard and one Q in Novice Jumpers in Ohio, with two 1st and a 2nd place. She still needs some handling skills training, but it was such fun to run her again, when I wasn't sure she would be able to run again after her injury this past spring.
Momma Abbi managed to get a Q and 3rd place in Excellent standard for 17 more MACH points.
And Chime's brother Shiloh qualified in Excellent B JWW for more MACH points for him too.
We had a good time staying with Linda and Shiloh for the weekend, even with an adventure of no power for a few hours at her house
Nov 11, 2007
Kerri went to her second agility trial this weekend and watched her momma compete. She had a great time playing with her sister Keeper, big brother Bryce, and her cousin Oakley from the Fire Litter. Of course, none of us thought to take any pictures :( It was a great weekend for three of the Music Litter boys in agility. Juice won 1st place in ExA JWW for his first AXJ leg and won 1st place in his Fast class. Shiloh finished his MXJ and got QQ #4 and a 4th place in 20" Ex B standard. Bryce made his debut in AKC Novice A agility on Saturday. They just missed getting a Q in both classes, but Jo and Bryce are becoming a great team together. He's one fast boy and Jo is having a great time learning agility with her speed demon Nov A dog.
And a big congratulations to Jan Masica, who has Keeper from the Irish litter, on getting her TD on her other dog Uno today! This is Jan's second TD on her goldens and we can see a future TD coming for Keeper!

Congratulations to Juice, from the Music litter, on his new OAJ and his #3 MX leg! I got to watch Juice and Paula have some fantastic runs together at the Canine Health Events shows and it's nice to see what a great team they are becoming together. Abbi and Shiloh went off to a hunt test in Ohio Sept 30/Oct 1 and brought home Junior Hunter titles for both dogs. What a thrill to have mom and son finish their JH's together!

The little hunter Chime and her squirrel from the bird feeder. This time she had help from Abbi, who got the squirrel to jump out of the feeder and Chime was right there to catch it.

Wahoo for Abbi! We had a great weekend at the hunt test. Two passes for Abbi, making her 3/4 way towards her JH. She's decided those smelly ducks aren't so bad after all. Abbi is just nuts over this field stuff. I can hardly control her at the hunt tests. She loves agility, but she really is nuts at the hunt tests. We had to sit on a bucket for the send on land, so I just stayed sitting on her return and she came right in and handed me the duck. It was great.
We go again in 4 weeks to Ohio. Linda has Shiloh entered for that trial too. So let's hope mother and son can do it together too :-)

November, 2005
There's no date on this news update, because it's taken me awhile to write this. We lost our beloved Piper November 8, two weeks short of her 11th birthday, suddenly from hemangiosarcoma. This awful cancer has developed in the last fifteen years or so in goldens and is sudden and deadly. Piper was hunting just a week before she died. That's her and Chime, with Tom and their prizes of pheasants, in the picture. One week later, she was gone. She was very healthy right up until the end, for which we are thankful. Piper was such a sweet and wonderful golden who loved life so much. She never met anybody she didn't love. We miss her so much.
April 28, 2005 The Puppies are here!!! Abbi was perfect. Came in season on her scheduled day, bred on the scheduled day off for me from work, delivered on her delivery date (again, my scheduled days off) and had the perfect size litter of more boys than girls, just like everybody requested, and delivered in daylight in the hours I had predicted (which was 10am-2pm). Gayle, Abbi's breeder, was here to help with the whelping. Thank goodness. All went well, but having the seasoned hands here was a big relief for us. Una, Abbi's half-sister, who is here with Abbi's breeder and who will be heading for Chicago to be bred, held off being ready for breeding until Sunday/Monday. So couldn't ask for any better timing than that. Abbi's doing great. Hasn't quite figured out the cleaning of the poop thing yet, but she's coming along. Tired, but happy. Will send more pics. The puppies are doing great. Just what we wanted, six boys, three girls. Perfect for what eveybody wants. You'll be getting lots of pictures, believe me. Boys are Misters Green, Purple, Dark Blue (Navy), Light Blue, Yellow, and White. Girls are Ms Creamsicle, Ms Raspberry, Ms Rainbow. Everything went perfect. Nine puppies in 3 hours. Not bad. She only cried (really loud three times) with the first one. Well, maybe screamed would be a better word. But don't tell her I told on her. Other than that, she was a trooper. I'll be home all weekend. Missing my own club's agility trial. See puppy pictures on their picture page, called Abbi & Canyon's babies.

ABBI'S PREGNANT!!!!
Tom took Abbi to the vet today for palpation and the vet says "She's definitely pregnant".
So we are looking forward to having puppies in five weeks. Will keep everybody posted as she grows.
Feb 23, 2005. Let me tell you about my trip to Chicago. Part of it was good and some of it had a few problems. We left Wed a.m. and arrived in the afternoon. It's a time change in Chicago area, so we gained an hour...that was nice. Rose Ann (owner of Canyon) was working, so she took the dogs to work with her and then stopped by the hotel that evening about 5:30pm. We let the two lovebirds play together on the hotel grounds, but it wasn't happening. Lots of foreplay, but I think she wasn't quite ready. We got together again the next evening. After some playing around, lots of foreplay, and lots of hussy behavior, they had a tie. Abbi cried as I held her still....and cried some more. Then I cried. Lots of tears. Then after the tie was over, everybody danced and played...at least Abbi did. Canyon just wanted to make sure all parts were back in place We then went out to dinner and let the dogs rest in their own vehicles. We skipped the next day. So on Saturday, after Rose Ann was done with a little OT at work, we got together again. Again, lots of foreplay, a LOT of real hussy behavior on Abbi's part, lots of humping on Canyon's part, just no tie. We let them rest and went out to dinner again, we definitely needed some alcohol for us! We tried again at Rose Ann's house after dinner. Same thing, just no tie. Lots of calls to Gayle by me and to the Miner's by Rose Ann. Gave it a rest. Tried again Sunday morning. Repeat of the night before. Both parties very willing, just not enough tight connection. We then went to breakfast. Rose Ann made some phone calls. A friend reminded her about the repro vet that was open on Sundays with the regular clinic on the north side of Chicago. Loaded them up and drove 45 minutes to the vets office. Amazing these things always seem to happen on Sundays, isn't it????? After explanation of the problem, both dogs went into see the vet. Abbi stood still and waived her tush, Canyon got a whiff of her, the vet did the deed to Canyon, collected the semen and did an A.I. to Abbi. Both dogs looked like they weren't having near as much fun as they'd been having the last three days. But it was done. Vet checked both Canyon's sperm, which looked good, and Abbi's inner parts, which also looked good. Unsure why it didn't happen naturally the 2nd time, but Abbi always seems to do things the hard way and the more expensive way.... the $145 way. Both of us loaded up, and said our goodbyes. I headed back to Michigan, Rose Ann and Canyon headed to Texas for their winter training...we had already held them up for two days. One good tie, one AI. We're hoping for lots of puppies. We will know more end of March, when we run the pregnancy test and have her palpated. It was a lot of fun and a lot of tension. Let's hope it works!
Stud fee down payment $200, Motel $200, Gas $60, AI $145, .... lots of puppies....priceless!!!
