Swedish
A technique designed to release physical tension from the body in a gentle way, increase circulation, reduce stiffness and remove energy blockages. Gliding strokes, kneading strokes, circular rubbing and fine, shaking movements are all used to bring the body, back into a balanced and relaxed state.
Esalen
Esalen massage is as much about philosophy, as it is technique. It is a form of Swedish but more complex. Simple Swedish works on one muscle group at a time and then moves to the next. Esalen is characterized by longer, slower, more flowing strokes that are integrative in nature.
This style is based on 'wholeness', encouraging the reciever into a feeling of physical & spiritual 'oneness'. Intense feelings of relaxation, nurturing and an increased appreciation for the gift of touch, result in a true rejuvination of the mind/body/spirit connection
Neuromuscular
This form of massage assists with the recovery from acute and chronic pain, utilizing techniques such as friction, deep compression and stripping of the muscles.
Zen-Touch Shiatsu
Shiatsu means 'finger pressure' in Japanese. Rhythmic finger pressure is applied at specific energy points, in order to stimulate 'Chi' (vital life force), helping to release blockages of the energy pathways.
Deep Tissue
This style targets chronic muscle tension. Using more direct pressure and friction to reach and release the deeper muscle layers.
Trigger Point
Trigger points are those knots you feel in your neck, shoulders and throughout the body. Slow, direct pressure is applied to cause it's release; increasing circulation, alleviating pain and increasing flexibility.
Sports
Intensely therapeutic and involves stretching and compression techniques; which help reduce swelling, relieve muscle tension, alleviate muscle fatigue and reduces heart rate and blood pressure. A great warm-up or cool-down to physical activity or to prevent or speed healing of injury.
Cranio-Sacral Balancing
This technique is extremely gentle, non-intrusive yet very specific. It involves soft manipulation of the bones in the skull & face that helps to relieve headaches, neck and back pain and leaves you feeling balanced and relaxed.
