Crafty Hints

Queen LindyLou asked if we could have a page for ideas for chapter banners, etc. I put it to the vote and I won - by a majority of one to none!

Thank you to Her Majesty Queen Marion for this picture of the incredible banner of the Rose Madder Reds of Benfleet. Her Maj wrote:

"Here is our banner which was presented to the chapter at our 1st anniversary lunch by a few of the ladies.

It was made by a few ladies who are keen embroiderers, (we are members of the embroiderers guild.) There are various techniques used, her red hat is made from needlelace, most of it is applique, I particularly love the handbag. Apparently they all knew about red hatters before I did, and had already started on this project when I suggested we form a chapter. It was a lovely surprise when they presented it to me at our anniversary lunch in April."

The Ruby Belles of Witham would like to show off their banner too - made entirely of sparkly applique! Very "Red Hat"! Another picture is in the Photo Album.

Queen MiniMum in Australia posted this on Matilda Rose (http://www.matildarose2.com/) recently. She is my mummy's good friend so I am sure she won't mind -
"Our banner was done using fabric paint (for the lettering) and the rest was cut out and glued. We were going to applique but we ran out of time.
Ours only 2 and half feet by 3 feet and it goes on one of those extendable poles I picked up off a verge during pick up. You know the ones that you twist the handle to extend? I thought it would make it easier to transport and you only need one person to carry it .
However I think since I did mine I would prefer one that two people could carry. You can do that a lot with rectic pipe work, threading it through a sleeve.
Hope that helps a bit?"
