THE CHARLESTON DOG TRAINING CLUB

LET US INTRODUCE OURSELVES

We are an American Kennel Club licensed club for those interested in fun activities with their dogs.

What is the Charleston Dog Training Club?

Our club, founded in 1959, is one of the oldest dog training clubs in South Carolina. Comprised of people who enjoy training their dogs, our members have put many titles on many dogs. We support responsible dog ownership; to promote that goal, we offer obedience classes to the general public.  Proceeds from these classes help us sponsor an AKC-licensed obedience trail in January of each year, and two AKC agility trials, one in the spring and one in the fall.

Our members are interested in many different aspects of dog ownership, not just obedience training.   Some members show their dogs in the breed ring and in agility competitions in addition to obedience. Plus, some compete in fly ball, water dog competition and tracking.  Other members are active in therapy dog programs, in which dogs visit patients in local hospitals, nursing homes, and schools. Still others are involved in fostering and dog rescue organizations. Our dogs are both purebred and mixed breed.
