CHIANTI RUFINA TRAILS

Il Colognole is a 700 hectare Chianti wine estate set within its own vineyards and olive groves only 25 km North East of Florence in Tuscany Italy.

New Zealand/Italian couple Paolo and Jessica Cadoni decided to combine their many years of horse riding and tourism experience to offer  real "Wilderness" and "Cultural" trips with a focus on "Responsible tourism" from the beautiful base of Colognole, a farm with a long and very interesting history.

Guests can elect to choose a programme that suits them, with the right amount of riding or cooking/wine tasting, trips can be all inclusive dining at our fabulous restaraunt, or self catering in one of 9 fabulous appartments.

We have private access to the Colognole game reserve, vineyards and chestnut forests (a huge advantage for horse riders, mountain-bikers and trampers).

For those who really want to get away from it all, the estate borders 36 000 hectares of national state parks.

One of the greatest benefits that you will enjoy when you choose one of our trips is the intimate, exclusive experience that is only possibile with local guides.

The landscape here is full of lakes, rivers and endless rolling farmland providing exciting once-in-a-lifetime horseback riding, and all only a stones throw from Florence.

The  Tuscan hills where our trekking operation is based, provide one of the most fascinating and uncontaminated landscapes in all of Italy. Bordering on the Mugello region – a harsh, wild land, overlooked by the towering nearby Apennine mountains – the vineyards slope gently down towards the lush Valdisieve valley eroded by the River Sieve. The stables are bordered by centuries-old chestnut and cypress woods and "historical" terraced olive groves, relics of an ancient form of agriculture, still so much alive in the air here.

We have an environmental policy in place to make sure that the fragile eco-system at Colognole is not damaged in any way.
Our "Leave No Trace" ethic is applied to all trips.
We use only locally owned transport, restaurants, shops and accommodation on our tours.

Re-awaken your sense of adventure and come explore Tuscany's breathtaking scenery on horseback!
