We just moved to Florida 5 months ago (job relocation). We brought our English Setter of 18 years with us. Sadly we had to put her down just one month ago. Our hope is to find another wonderful pet to fill the void in our family. Your site looks wonderful and we hope that we can find a new family member with your help.

We have totally fallen in love with Buddy V. We have renamed him Reggie and he has settle in quite well. He LOVES the pool. He wore his nails down to the nub from running on the deck before jumping that he is having to have a break on the pool. We now throw the ball in a nearby field so his toenails can heal. I think he could be ready for the dog challenge. As you can seen in this photo, he certainly can jump. Thanks for letting us have this great dog!!!

I have a beautiful, long haired Golden that is in need of grooming. Can anyone suggest a good groomer in Citrus County that knows how to groom a Golden, does not drug the dog, and is kind? The last groomer shaved her and she was very groggy (which leads me to believe that she was given something)
Thanks,
Cyndy

Saffron

She walked thru our front door and jumped right into my heart. I wanted a younger Golden, she was 5; I wanted a male, she was female; I wanted a light Golden, she was as red as can be, BUT she was to be mine and I knew it as soon as I looked into that wonderful girl’s eyes.

On her first visit she was quite the lady. She lay by her foster parents feet and came when called and did everything right. I didn’t want her to go home with them but understood that was policy—thinking tme. I could hardly wait for me to become her “forever mom”.

When she came to us to stay, the first day she was called onto the sofa to be loved on by my husband and she got into his lap. Now I believe she weighed about 79 pounds so this was quite a site. Later I was in the recliner and she came right up onto the recliner and plopped right down on top of me. THAT WAS LOVE from a Golden that had been in our home for a week. WOW! I knew I was the luckiest person alive to have Saffron. She was all three of my dogs I had lost in the past two years, including my Golden, Savannah, who died of stomach cancer at age 12 in May of 2008; my Australian Shepherd Pit Bull mix and the most affectionate, Mercury, who died at age 14 in May, 2009; and Dammit, my Husky Wolf mix, the quiet Alpha of the group, who died at aqe 15, June 8, 2009. Saffron gave me so much love. And she got along wonderfully with our 5 year old “Wild Child” Dixie, a deaf Dalmatian.

Saffron came to us from the Citrus County Golden Retriever Rescue in Florida in July. She had to take thyroid medication the rest of her life. She also had two noticable goiters by her voice box. Otherwise she was perfect in every possible way. She was very happy when we went back to the North Carolina Mountains in August because it was so much cooler. She loved laying outside in the cool evenings and inside on the tile and wood. Now, back in Florida for the Christmas holidays, she is loving the cooler winter this year.

She has the funkiest lay down and stretch out. Her back legs are sprawled out exposing all of her tummy to the cooler tile and it’s a hoot to see her wagging her tail each time you look at her. She is such a love and I feel like she has been with us since she was born. I love this Saffron girl with all my heart.

Bottom line though is I am going to lose this girl in approximately three months. I can hardly write about this. She was diagnosed with lymphomia two weeks ago, those were not goiters in her neck. It saddens me so when I look at those beautiful brown eyes that she was only with us such a short time and I thought she would be with us the rest of my life. I can hardly deal with the thought of losing her. Twelve years is the shortest time I have ever had a dog, not 6-8 months. Please pray for Saffron and me. The Vet has given me medications to make her very comfortable. And I love this dog so very much.

My family and I lost our Golden of 15 years last month. We are heartbroken and can't imagine our home without another Golden for much longer. Will you be at the Inverness Pet Supermarket again soon or is the next opportunity to meet your dogs in October?

Can Saffron's weight be controlled just by diet? Is it possible she may have a problem with diabitis? Would she be a good companion for a small maltipoo? Golden's usually have such friendly wonderful dispositions. We were blessed to have our Golden for 17 years and deeply miss him.
Also very interested in Taffy and we keep checking the site to see when she is ready for adoption.

I have never seen such a wonderful website for Goldens. Looking to adopt and finding it hard with poor contacts, etc. Some of the stories on the website brought tears to my eyes as we love our 10 year old Golden Retriever, Bonnie so very much. Never could put her out. Thank you! Doug Rosie Beatrice and Bonnie
