Several countries and the European Union have satellite nagigations systems in operation - or will have it before too long:
1)
GPS (Global Positioning System)
This is the US nagigation system. It is own by the American military, but it is freely available to everybody.

GALILEO:
This is the European Union's satellite navigation system, which is supposed to be even more precise than GPS.
It is being constructed at the moment. The first satellite has been launched and is under testing. It is expected that GALILEO will be fully operational as of 2010-11.

GLONASS:
GLONASS is the Russian satellite navigation system, which started in 2000. It is planned to upgrade it in the near future.

BEIDOU:
BEIDOU is the Chinese satellite regional navigation system. The Chinese might soon decide to make it global.
