Membership Form

Dear Member,

Please find enclosed a membership form for the 2012 year and also a Equine Influenza fact sheet detailing all you need to check your horses vaccinations are up to date.

This year we are asking all members who wish to compete for Cwmaman RC in BRC competitions to send two photocopies of their horses passports with their membership forms. This will prevent passports being misplayed this year. The photocopies need to include the details of the horse (name, breed, age ect), the identification drawing, owner details and the full vaccination records.

     Thank You

G7: EQUINE INFUENZA

Our equine influenza rules are based on the British Horseracing Authority

Rules (formerly The Jockey Club Rules).

G7.1: Vaccination Procedure

Each pony or horse must have a valid vaccination certificate which undeniably relates to that pony or horse, completed, signed and stamped on each relevant line by a veterinary surgeon who is not the owner of the pony or horse. It must state that the pony or horse has received the appropriate course of injections:

Primary Vaccination Two injections, the 2nd between 21 and 92 days after the 1st First Booster An injection between 150 and 215 days after 2nd primary injection Annual Booster An injection not more than 1 year after the preceding injection None of the vaccinations may be given within the preceding 7 days including the day of competition or entry into the competition stables.

Annual Boosters may be given on the same date each year, but this is not recommended.

If the pony or horse competes at FEI level then the annual booster is replaced with a six monthly booster. This FEI Rule applies to any team that qualifies for the Quadrille Championships at Olympia.

It is the competitor’s responsibility to ensure that their pony or horse has a valid certificate that fully complies with the BHA Rules in all respects and to present that certificate at all Official Competitions.

G7.2: Checking of Certificates

There is now a legal requirement for a valid passport to accompany the pony or horse when traveling to any competition. If the passport does not contain the full vaccination history then, to comply with rule G7.1, the flu vaccination certificate must also accompany the pony/horse to all BRC Qualifiers and Championships.

Full vaccination histories and drawings will be checked at all Area Qualifiers and at all Championships before the pony or horse is allowed to compete, and anyone with an invalid certificate will not be permitted to compete. Any pony/horse that is in a team competition that is disqualified at an Area Qualifier cannot be replaced, the team will have to continue as a team of three, or if already a team of three, will have to compete as individuals only, if there is an individual competition. Any pony/horse disqualified at an Area Qualifier under this rule will be reported to the BRC Office. If that team qualifies for a Championship then the disqualified pony/horse cannot be replaced with a reserve for that Championship and the team must remain a team of three.

Every effort will be made to ensure that the checking at Area Qualifiers is carried out correctly. BRC accepts no responsibility whatsoever for any losses suffered, whether directly or indirectly, due to incorrect checking at any BRC Area Qualifier or Championships. It is the sole responsibility of the competitor to ensure that their certificate is valid and it should not be assumed that because a certificate has been accepted at one competition in good faith it would also be accepted at another competition.

G7.3: Dual Names

The name shown on the certificate/passport must be the one that is used on all official competition entry forms. If a stable name is also shown on the certificate this must be endorsed by a veterinary surgeon.

G7.4: Ponies/Horses Foaled before 1 January 1980

Ponies or horses foaled before 1 January 1980 need not have the first booster injection (between 150 and 215 days after the second injection) but must have had annual boosters (every 12 months) thereafter. Any ponies or horses foaled before 1 January 1980 who re-start their vaccinations after 1 January 1991 must have the full course of injections including the first booster.

G7.5: Allergic ponies/horses & Homeopathic vaccinations

Ponies or horses that, for any reason, are unable to be vaccinated against equine influenza will not be given any dispensation to compete. Homeopathic vaccinations are not acceptable.
