KANTARA CASTLE (left) working upsides our unraced home bred 3 year old filly SECOND GUEST - Sat 14 Feb 2015
Its been quiet of late, with most our horses being prepared with the upcoming turf season in mind and those that have been running during the winter re-charging their batteries.
The horses are all in great order however and here is the latest news following last Saturday's stable visit:
Available - She is really well and
we are aiming at having her ready to run on the AW in approx 3 weeks. There are a couple of 7f handicaps at Wolves around mid March and we will probably aim her at one of those. She may have a racecourse gallop at Wolves first too. She was very unlucky not to win in 2014 but was only out of the first 4 once in 8 starts and has become a very consistant filly that will surely be winning again soon.
Keep Calm - Also in great order and we will be looking to get him schooled up over
hurdles in the next couple of weeks. We have been very happy with since he returned from his break and I would think he will be ready to run in Novice hurdles during March on good or good/soft ground. We are just waiting for slightly better ground before we
commence schooling him.
Kantara Castle - Preparations
are going well and he should be ready to run by mid March. We may kick him off on the AW prior to a turf campaign over trips of 1m2f to 1m4f. The plan is to also pop him over a few hurdles to see how he jumps - we think he will stay 1m4f this year so if he
jumps hurdling could become an option at some point in the future.
Impeccability
- She has been brought back in after a few weeks off since her last race and has been doing some road work prior to commencing cantering. She wont take a lot of getting ready and will be another that will be schooled over hurdles shortly. We are very hopeful
of a good season with her, both on the flat and over hurdles after a very encouraging 2014.
Arizona John - He has just started cantering again after completing his road work and looked really well last Saturday. He wont be ready until mid to late March, when he will probably run on the AW before another turf
campaign. This 9 time winner is now 10 years old but retains loads of ability and we expect him to give his owners plenty of fun again this season.
Illustrious Forest - He has had a year off with a leg injury but is now on his way back and we hope to have him ready to run again by late Spring. He is a 5 time winner
for us over 1m4f and we are planning a hurdling campaign this Summer. Could be an exciting prospect for us if he takes to jumping.
Inflexiball - She ran a very promising race the other week when dead heating for 3rd in her maiden race at Wolves and she has since been allotted an initial handicap mark of 62. She is
now being given a break and time to put a on a bit of condition before her next run, which will likely be on turf. She is still growing and maturing so there should
be improvement to come - an exciting home bred prospect for us.
Second
Guest - John Mackie is really pleased with how she is progressing and is starting to think about putting her through the stalls at home. You can see her physical progress on the gallops and she worked well upsides Kantara Castle on Saturday. When
she is ready we will probably kick her off over a mile on the AW and take things from there but she will likely need further as the season progresses.
Multisphere - Still not been backed but she is growing at a rate of knots and is already bigger in height than our mare Aegean Destiny (who is 8) and she has
only just turned 2 years old! A monster but we will probably need to be patient and wait for the 2nd half of the season before thinking of running her. She will be backed and ridden out over the course of the next 2 months and we will know more after that
but she is certainly a big, scopey filly.
That's all for now - its
been a quiet time for us of late but its all building up to the Spring and Summer months and fingers crossed our owners will have another exciting season ahead.
