The Essex Pelargonium Society, Members, Aims & News.
The Essex Pelargonium Society was formed in 2002, by three enthusiasts with an aim to form a social club to enjoy club activities, day excursions, holidays, and of course growing Pelargoniums.
We all had years of experience with a former Pelargonium / Geranium Group.
We soon enrolled some eighty members, who are still with us today.
We enjoy our day excursions and many holidays on the continent, albeit, still awaiting our aim to grow the
'Perfect Pelargonium'

The three founder members are: Mr John Summerhill,our first Chairman,now our superb Editor, John is interested in growing the Specie Pelargoniums. Also, always seeking knowledge of the history and hybridisation of the Geraniaceae Family of plants for our Gazette.
John produces four gazettes per year, which our members enjoy, Join us and
you will enjoy the read.
Mr Peter Bugg
Mr Peter Bugg, was deputy Chairman, now our present Chairman.Peter is very interested in growing the Specie type Pelargoniums, as well as Hybrids and also the Hardy type Cranesbill Geraniums.
Peter is sought after for his talks, and for arranging displays of the Specie Types.
The next display is planned for June 20th at the National Pelargonium Show.

Mr Richard (Dick) Hampshire is our Hon Secretary, That's me, there is not much one can say about yourself, other than to say our club and fellow members are all great friends,it is a great pleasure to be able to arrange all our events, we really do have a lot of fun.
If you reside near Southend-on-Sea why not give us a try and join.
If you are too far away, you can still join and enjoy the gazettes, Also our holidays, distance is no problem. We have friends from all over the UK join us.
In August this year we are going to Boppard & Dresden, A good holiday is guaranteed.

What do we do !.
We meet at a Social Club in Southend on the first Thursday of each month except August, December & January.
The main theme being growing Pelargoniums. We purchase many hundreds of plants all varieties from the P.A.C. agent in the UK. We were introduced to the P.A.C. varieties of Pelargoniums many years ago, they are superb in every respect, We are fortunate to be able to show you here photo's of their latest introductions.
We started projects, for the local Schoolchildren to
'Grow a Pelargonium' and 'Paint a Pelargonium' this has proved to be a great success. We purchase and pot up 300 baby plants, This year (PAC Berg Palais) an orange semi double. We deliver 100 to each of three schools.
The Children grow these on, then we display them at our annual show in June. The Children enjoy this immensly and get excited when they are greeted and meet the Mayor to receive their awards.
Three schools are invited to 'Paint a Pelargonium' this is only of interest to infant classes, however, they love doing the paintings, you can guess what some look like,but it's all fun, It makes a day out for the parents and Children.

The Pelargonium classes are all open, anyone can enter and be made welcome. You will need a Show Schedule,
