A Day to Remember

Yeehaa!!!  A fantastic, fun day....

Early morning saw club members setting up the hall early so that we would be ready to welcome our visitors from the Little Tennessee Club.  The day kicked off with much anticipation and the momentum carried on throughout the day as each singer had their turn.

It was great to see Shirley arrive with a large contingent of their club members…especially as they were a little late after travelling through the Mangamuka badlands.  Hopefully no bad hombres latched onto their trail as we might be in for a showdown later on…...

Country Friends also arrived from the Hokianga Club to enjoy the day with us among them Robbie Perry and Icie.  Many past memories were relived amongst visitors and members as thoughts of yesteryear popped to the surface from time to time.

Our core band (Dave, Barry, Janie & Trevor) were reinforced by Robbie Martin and Mike Parkinson and they all did a wonderful job as the hours ticked over,  culminating in a wonderful blast off by Dave & Marsh Cook at the end of the day.  It was Robbie’s birthday and it was lovely to see his family arrive and present him with a cake.   Happy Birthday Robbie!!!!

Lunch time saw Gunslinger Curly Bill & Saloon gal Sal sneakin into the RSA before he drew his guns and rustled and hustled everyone out of their loot.  Stealing the show and all the auction items he then took to extorting everyone out of their hard earned cash as he raised funds for his next ambush.  Luckily before he could get away "Ange" our President managed to lassoo him, give him a shake down so our "Llonz" ourTreasurer could grab the booty and put it towards our 30th Birthday Reunion next April.  Slippery customer though as by the time the local Sheriff arrived Curly Bill & sidekick Sal had done a runner…leaving a parting message…"I’ll be Back"......

Happily we can announce that the auction made some good bucks (thanks to that mean hombre Curly Bill) with $679.00 being banked to go towards our 30th Birthday Reunion.  Buffalo Meat Raffles were won by Ginny No.25 and Jane-Ann No.13 with Neil Fyfe last seen heading for the hills after winning the $100.00 raffle sold on the day.

Many thanks to everyone for helping to make this an exciting and fun day…we had great entertainment and what better way to spend a Sunday….and to all those who supplied items for our auction and lunch and to those who did the hard yards….A BIG THANK YOU from us all.

Marsh Cook cookin up a storm...
