Nice to visit my old 'patch' today to look at the butterflies. I managed to find Small Skipper, Large White, Small White, Comma, Red Admiral, Speckled Wood, Common Blue, Comma, Meadow Brown and Gatekeeper. Bird-wise I heard Treecreeper and Coal Tit. Other insects includes Southern Hawker and Beautiful Demoiselle plus Roesel's Bush-Crickets. Photos being posted on next few links - here's the bush cricket

The orchard meadow is still looking great and there are lots of butterflies around including marbled whites.

2 Little Egrets seen in Leap Valley Woods 30/1/19 and from time to time over the last couple of weeks. They seem to return at this time every year. It must mean there are fish in the stream for them!

It was good to see some of the families who planted cider apple trees in the orchard there today pruning their trees. Apparently they had a wassail last week too so lets hope they will get a bumper crop this year.

We remember that the Bird Report total that Andrew used to keep for us was up to 100 different species. We now have to add this one. 2 parakeets seen in my garden adjacent to Leap Valley. Mixed reactions - they look beautiful but if they get to the numbers present in London they can threaten the numbers of resident bird populations such as owls.
