Here you can meet our previous puppies...I will gladly give any one of them as a reference to potential new puppy homes
Grawpaw's Lumi Maija

Anu's seventh born in 2007 was a female.  She was born at 8.11 a.m.   Since these puppies were born after a week or two of cold, bad weather, I named her "Lumi" which means snow.  Her new Finnish owner also already had a name in mind, Maija, so her full name now is Grawpaw's Lumi Maija
I got to spend a few days getting to know her new owner here in Ontario prior to them leaving for her new home in Alberta, where she now lives on a farm with another dog, several cats and horses for company....

Maija - April 2008
Grawpaw's Aamu

Anu's sixth born was a girl.  She was born at 7.20 a.m.  This little girl, I gave the name "Aamu" which means morning, in Finnish.  With it being a woman's name, I thought it was appropriate since the puppies were born in the morning.
Aamu has now gone to her new home, with a Finnish family, in southern Ontario where she is having fun getting to know the other animals in the home....

Aamu - February 2008
Grawpaw's Talvisota

Anu's fifth born was a girl.  She was born at 6.52 a.m.  Her new call name will be Talvi which means winter....but her full name is Grawpaw's Talvisota, which means "winter war".  An appropriate name for a KBD, as they were almost wiped out during the Finland/Russia winter war.  Talvi lives with Bjornehuset's Samson (Sisu), Muffy and Zane where she is very happy....  Talvi will soon be joining Sisu at the Canadian Kennel Club shows.
Because a dog must be at least 6 months old at the time of the show and Talvi was just 9 days shy, she had to enter a sanction match on May 31, 2008.  It was her very first show and she placed second...I was so happy and proud to be there to see her.

Talvi - May 31, 2008
Grawpaw's Jalo

Anu's fourth born was a boy.  He was born at 6.07 a.m.  Jalo is the Finnish word for noble.
Jalo now lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  He has gone to a wonderful family which includes sister Kiska, a 12 year old husky, who he has great fun playing with.   Jalo has now graduated puppy classes and has been trained on an invisible fence.  He is a very lucky little boy, his new family live for their dogs and he couldn't have asked for a nicer home to go to.

Jalo - August 28, 2008
Grawpaw's Taisto
Anu's third born was a boy.  He was born at 5.57 a.m.  He was given the Finnish men's name "Taisto".  This means battle, in Finnish.
Grawpaw's Taisto will soon be showing what he was bred for, hunting bear and moose at his new home, Three Bear's Camp in Shining Tree, Ontario.  We look forward to hearing stories after hunting season this fall.

Tai - Winter 2008
Grawpaw's Tuulikki

Anu's second born was a girl.  She was born at 5.41 a.m.   She has been named "Tuulikki" which means little wind in Finnish.  I knew this is what she had to have as a name as soon as I saw Tuulikki because it made me laugh since I used to know someone with the name who was quite fat...and that is what this little "Tuulikki" was, she was the largest of the puppies for the first month or so of her life.
Tuulikki is the first of our puppies to have found a home very close to us....we will be able to visit.  She will be a protector of her new family and be hunting with her master.....

Tuulikki - April 2008
Grawpaw's Onni

Anu's first born was a boy.  He was born at 5.20 a.m.  I have chose the name "Onni" for him as it has special meaning to me since it was my grandfather's name and also my uncle's name who died in the Finnish Winter War.  "Onni" means happiness or luck in Finnish.
Onni has moved with his new owner from Tennessee to Montana, where he will be in his element.  Onni has a new sister, Belle, an Airedale to keep him company, we look forward to new pictures from their new home.

Onni - Spring 2008
Grawpaw's Lahja
Grawpaw's Lahja or Lolly, as she is now known, was the last born in Pitsi's second litter.  She recently moved from Washington State to Idaho.  There she lives on a horse farm and gets to enjoy many daily rides with her owner.
Lolly - Fall 2007
Grawpaw's Kulta Lotta
Grawpaw's Kulta Lotta, a female, was the third born of Pitsi's second litter.  She is now living in Manitouwadge, Ontario where she will be moose hunting and keeping watch over camp.  Her always cheerful disposition has her making friends where ever she goes.
Kulta has been busy tracking moose and her owner said it is amazing how he sees her friendly mood with people change completely when she chases a bear.  Even at her young age, she is not scared of anything.
Kulta & Steve - Winter 2007
Grawpaw's Magdalene
Grawpaw's (Leila) Magdalene, was the second born of Pitsi's second litter.  She is now living on a farm in Red Deer, Alberta with her new family, where she is enjoying the horses and other dogs she has to play with.
Maggie - February 2008
Grawpaw's Ville Jaska
Grawpaw's Ville Jaska was the first born and only boy of Pitsi's second litter.  He is now living near Thunder Bay, Ontario.  Fitting that he is gone to the largest Finnish populated area outside of Scandinavia.  He has a wonderful young family with 4 young boys and 2 cats to play with.  His owner takes such gorgeous pictures it is hard to choose just one to post here...
Jaska - Fall 2007
Grawpaw's Otto
Grawpaw's Otto was the only male from Pitsi's first litter and he was the last puppy born.  He will always hold a special place in mine and my family's heart as it was our first litter and he stayed with us a week longer than his siblings.  It was very hard to let him go.  He is now living, where else, but in Ottawa.  He did well in puppy classes and Search and Rescue training.  Otto started skijoring this past winter and apparently really enjoyed it.  His new family are also avid hikers and take Otto on their travels.
Otto - October 2007
Grawpaw's Star
Grawpaw's Star (Niina) was the second born female for Pitsi.  She is now living in the lap of dog's luxury in Sudbury, Ontario.  She is a working dog, working alongside her master, a bear hunting guide.  At 11 weeks she was already introduced to her first bear and reacted just as she should, barking profusely.  Star's master is very proud of her, she has found bear and moose and is performing just as she should.
Star - Fall 2006
Grawpaw's Dakota Lempi
Pitsi's first born, a beautiful female, was Grawpaw's Dakota Lempi.  She is now part of a wonderful young family in Illinois.
Dakota - Fall 2006
