DANDY

POSH NAME:  GRON-DE-MON LOUP DES MARAIS

Dandy is the first full BSD Groen I have owned.  I have half a one in one of my other dogs but although always wanting one, my beautiful black boy is my first and I am sure he won’t be my last!

My passion is competitive obedience so I was hoping that Dandy would be suitable to give it a go.  I chose Dandy at 7 weeks old – a tiny little thing he was too. The runt of the litter and didn’t he look it but his attitude at that age was just the sort of thing that I was looking for.  I had no idea if he would be any good at the obedience game as I had never trained a Belgian before but I didn’t  really care as he was just so scrummy!!

Anyhow he has turned out to be quite wonderful.  His love of life is phenomenal.  He has been FAR from straightforward and we have had our moments but overall I wouldn’t change him for the world.  He lives life to the full, charges about like a complete nutter and can beat nigh on any dog for speed and athleticism. He lives with our other 3 dogs (collie/bsd x, terrier x, staffie/collie x) and leaves them all standing!

Whilst quite small for a boy, he is a stunning dog to look at and he can be quite a clever boy when he concentrates!  He passed his bronze and silver good citizens tests when he was around 8 months old (I think).  He absolutely loves his training and thoroughly enjoys himself which makes him a pleasure to train.  However, he can be a bit of a numpty at times which is a bit frustrating!  Dandy is 4 years old now and is just beginning to mature a bit.  To date in the obedience world he has won 3 novice classes and 1 test A, with lots of places in A and a couple of places in test B.  He might one day get it all together and win a bit more, but it’s unimportant really.

I have to thank Yvonne and Trevor for giving me the opportunity of owning Dandy and trusting me with him.  It must be very hard letting your puppies go to these unknown homes but I hope you are as proud of him as I am.
