This Flooding happened at home. Was worse in swannanoa than in christchurch. Heavy rain that was constant for a couple of days. We had a months worth of rain in two days. Local dairy farmer lost about 80 cows when the approach to his bridge that crosses the usual dry riverbed, was washed away. The cows just kept following each other, and fell into the massive river. They were on their way to the milking shed's at 3 in the morning when it occured.
Here are some pics of my crazy husband kayaking the swollen Eyre river, that is always dry. He kayaked from Oxford to swannanoa.
