Hi Susan, Good to hear from you. And this was exactly what I tried to say on the Dublin Web Summit. The name of the Club of Venice comes from the fact that the Club was founded in Venice 23 years ago. And we still have an annual meeting there - later this week, by the way. Interested in more? Niels

Hi Niels,
I heard you speak at the Dublin Web Summit and your thoughts on Social media were to be pro active, accept exposure accept change and the thought that immediately came into my mind was Why the Club of Venice with connoctations of Masks and Cloaks and cover up? So I d like to know where the name came from ? Nice to see your web page today and I will follow you on Twitter

Hello,

The summer is over. It's time to get a real and forward-looking debate rolling. Agree ?

I will from now on at least a couple of times a week give a contribution on my Home Page on different topics, which I find important and interesting.

I very much hope that you will join in. OK?

Niels

Hi Niels,
First of all: Happy and healthy New Year 2009 to you and all your dear ones! and Thank you for your birthday wishes that I only really picked up today with the house in Brussels empty again after all the birthday, Christmas and New Year celebrations with family and friends.
Congratulations to your websites and 3rd age activities! Since retirement, I for myself have mainly concentrated on travel and family, thus cutting down on all European activities. The photo taken this summer in my house in Brussels shows me with all of my 'grands', so far. But there may be a 6th little one this coming August.
So I agree with you that life should be (and is) fun and joy. We are very privileged and lucky people, indeed. As my American 'parents' during my high school exchange year in 1958/59 used to say "let's do it, just for the fun of it". Both lived to be 102!
Enjoy!
Barbara

How have you been, Niels?
I've been working at EU Institute in Japan at
Hitotsubashi University. It is great you have enjoyed your life after retirement. I look forward to reading your web site from Japan.

hello Niels,

Always nice to hear from you. Retirement seems so fun when I read you. I admire your energy.
I come back from holidays (USA/Wahsington D.C where my sister work and California (sich a nice weather there).
Suggestion for you Belgian walks (when by chance it's not raining ;-)) even if I see you like the ones in the Brabant (very nice indeed): have you tried Parc Solvay ? You can begin with a walk in the parc (don't miss the "roseraie" and then enter the Forest.

I explored the sites and discover very interesting things and, above all, how happy you - and your family - are. It was an additional sunshine in this day.
Many thanks
