I
graduated from Southwest Missouri State University (now called Missouri State University) in Springfield, Missouri with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 1988. I have worked for several years in the Graphic Design and Advertising business and now I am trying to make time once again for my art.

I have always loved drawing, since I was a young child and got my first box of crayons. Over the years, when time would allow (between the jobs and the kids), I have drawn portraits for friends and acquaintances, working mainly in colored pencils.While I try to represent my subjects realistically, the most important part is capturing the personality and spirit of each subject. By layering colors I try to achieve an almost painterly effect, while leaving the strokes of the drawing visible. Although the layering of colors can take some time, I feel this is what gives each drawing its depth and artistic expression, making each portrait a unique piece of art.
