Tallulah
is her official name
We call her Lulu for short. Why? Because she responded to the sound of it when we said it, so it stuck. It went from Tallulah to Lulah for short then to Lulu.
We aquired Lulu on 28th June 2006, my son Bri & his friend Will were on the way to the chip shop when they saw a stray dog `herding` the cars on the A46 near Morrisons, Laceby.
They got out of the car and began trying to catch her, a car was about to run into her so my son stood in front of it, luckily it stopped although the driver wasn`t very happy about being inconvenienced. My son brought the dog home with him and we fed her. She had a collar on too tight so I slackened it off. Under her collar her fur had worn away quite considerably so we bought her a harness to allow her fur to grow back.
The next day we took her to the vets for a check up to see if she was ok, she was fine. The vet scanned her to see if she was micro-chipped....she was! Bingo we thought great, she'll be back with her owner in no time. Sadly it was not to be. We traced her owner, took her to see him and he didn`t want her back...said something about his daughters asthma clearing up since the dog had gone. So she may have been dumped we really can`t say.
I had expected this and had with me a note ready-made so he could at least sign to say he had handed her over to me, I don`t know how that stood legally but I thought it was something at least.
That was it. From then on we had a dog...Lulu. We did try to rehome her but to no avail. Then obviously they get inside your heart, so we fell in love with her. She`s a sweet thing not nasty at all, doesn`t mess in the house, doesn`t scratch furniture or doors, whines when she needs to go out for wee-wees or a poo, good as gold. My son took her under-his-wing and took her on as his pet. They enjoyed walks together in the fields near and around our home. Lulu loved to run along the beach and I remember the day she discovered water. She was running along the beach, saw some ducks & geese and decided to try and run after them....the moment where land turned to water was a little shock to Lulu but not in a bad way, you could see the dawn of realisation on her face as she continued to try and run in water, then realised oh I had better swim then! It all happened in a few seconds but it was funny to see, bless her.
Lulu was already spayed & we had her vaccinated earlier this month.
We have found out Lulu was called Lucy by her first owner so that's probably why she responded to us saying Lulu, it would sound abit like Lucy. Her second owner called her Deefa, doh! Now she is Bri's and has found her forever home.
