Maniototo took the early lead through a Thomas Huddleston Penalty. Clinton applied the pressure on the Maniototo line but made a simple mistake, Maniototo ran the ball from its own line and winger Craig Paterson scored a try at the other end of the ground. Huddleston was agin on target to give Maniototo a 10 - 0 lead at halftime. Clinton's Scott Strachan was on target to kick a penalty goal early in the second half. Despite excellent work by both packs, neither team was able to add to its score. For Maniototo player coach Paul Dougherty led by example. James Peddie was solid and Vaughan Dowling led well.
