Semi Final v Crescent at Kaitangata

22/7/2000
Maniototo  24  v Crescent  9
At Crescent Maniototo forwards paved the way for victory. They were down 5 - 6 at halftime but in the second spell they took control and used the ball to good advantage scoring four good tries.  Maniototo forwards were well led by player/coach Paul Dougherty, and he had excellent support from Ryan Dowling and Gavin Crossan. One player to stand out was lock Johnny Duncan who won many lin-outs with good clean takes. In the backs, Greg Dougherty at halfback showed out when he came on in the second spell, moving the ball away quickly, and this gave the outside men a chance to show their skills. Sean Becker was strong in midfield. while Dean McAuley was safe at fullback.
