Naseby Takes Cricket Championship.
It was finals time in the Maniototo Eastern competition, with Palmerston taking on table-topping Naseby for the title. Naseby won the toss and sent Palmerston in to bat, with the visitors making 179 before being all out. Jeff Grubb hit a well-deserved 58 and was helped by Greg Stevenson-Wright (24). Tim Greer was the chief destroyer for Naseby, claiming four for 23 off seven overs. In reply, Naseby reached the target with three wickets in hand thanks to a combined batting effort led by Iain Forrester with 40. Srevenson-Wright featured with the ball, picking up 2 for 26. The result was a deserved championship title for the Naseby side.
