Why Whippets.....?
Ryan & I moved to the country to accomodate our Thoroughbreds and our small breeding programme which has since had to take a back seat to the steadily increasing whippet family! We live about half a mile away from a beautiful beach and have 2 paddocks on the property - one for the dogs and one for the Jacobs sheep - a rare breed sheep and the poultry,we have another 5 acres grazing land for the horses and are also lucky enough to have direct access to a bridle path from the property, which is great for the dogs and horses alike.
We have always had dogs but started out with gundogs which Ryan trained but as the horses took up more and more time he had less time for the intensive training that gundogs need, and as we wanted a fit dog to keep up with the horses and Ryan also still wanted a working dog we bought our first whippet and have never looked back since!!
Like many people we got involved with showing dogs through the horses and one of the most important things to us in both the Thoroughbreds & the whippets is movement...they have that same low & easy free-flowing action that is both desirable & essential. We have made a lot of good friends and have not been without our successes in the ring and now...we are hooked!
