Please feel free to Contact Us with any questions. To help save you time, we have listed the most commonly asked questions and their answers below.
Q: Do I need to pre-register or can I just show up and try it before I sign up? A: All participants are welcome to try the first class before signing up for the full session. Class size is limited and spaces are reserved for those who pre-register. Feel free to drop in if you don't find the time to pre-register, but if the class is full we may have to ask you to return another day.
Q: How much do Mummy and Me Dance classes cost? A: There is a one-time registration fee of £5 per family. After that it is £48 per term (12-week session - £4 per class) or £27 per 1/2 term (6-week session - £4.50 per class) . This is a family rate. If you are registering more than 1 child from the same family for the same class, the cost remains the same. Our evening 'Dance-Fit' class has a slightly different fee. One can pre-purchase 6 classes for £27 (£4.50 per class) or 10 classes for £40 (£4 per class). One then has the entire term ( 12 weeks) in which to use these classes.
Q: Why do I pay a registration fee? A: Your registration fee covers administration time and costs. Your details need to be filed for insurance purposes. But this fee is paid only once for the entire family, no matter how many sessions you sign up for.
Q: Where are the classes held? A: In Tewkesbury daytime classes are held at the Tewkesbury Scout Hut on Oldbury Road across from the 'Roses Theatre'. Evening classes are held at the Wheatpieces Community Centre. In Quedgeley the classes are held at the new Kingsway Community Centre in the business park just off the Naas Lane roundabout.
Q: Where can I park? A: For the Scout Hut in Tewkesbury, the 'Spring Gardens' car park (at the Cascades swimming pool) is very close by. At the Wheatpieces and in Quedgeley, there is a free car park attached to the centre.
Q: What should I wear or bring to the class? A: Participants should wear comfortable clothing that they can easily move about in without restriction. Children do not wear shoes during the dance session. Try to bring a full water bottle and during the winter dress in layers. Adults attending an adult class should wear comfortable trainers and may want to bring a towel or exercise mat to make floor work more comfortable. If you are bringing a child who is NOT participating in a class please bring materials that are likely to help keep them amused.
Q: I would love to attend a mums' class but I don't know if my daughter will be able to entertain herself while I dance. What are my options? A: There will be a play area set aside for children who attend the mums' classes. On a good day they will play nicely together and we can go about our class. On other (more likely) days, we can easily incorporate the children into our workout. Bench-pressing a toddler is a great way to build biceps! Remember, you may try a class before registering so just come and give it a go.
Q: I will be bringing my 3 year old to the 'Creative Dance' class but my 1 year old will be tagging along. Since the little one is not eligible for the class, does she need to stay out of the way? A: No. We expect that siblings are going to want to take part when they see how much fun the class is. You only need to register and pay for children who are eligible. The 'Creative Dance' class will be too difficult for your 1 year old to truly grasp but she is welcome to join in at her own level.
Q: The 'theme' for the Mum's class is always changing. How do you decide which dance style to offer? A: It is the students who decide! During the last few classes of a session, women who will be returning get to decide which dance style to focus on next.
