Show Results 2010
Brussels
Yesterday 18th Dec we went to our last show for this year.
Checkhov received a 2 Very Good from the judge Mrs Peschges (D) who is an Italian Greyhound breeder. She found Checkhov too fat although I personally think he is ok, I don't like to be able to feel his bones sticking out under his coat.

Kortrijk 21 Nov. 2010
Today Checkhov attained 2 Excellent behind the magnificent dog Nebula Kalinow of Albaneiler, owned by Mrs Lorraine Harvey. The dog,Datcha Payatz at Menigma, took the CAC CACIB is also owned  by an  English person, Mrs Sue Pinkerton.

Checkhov
Leuven 31st October
We are finally home after a long and tiring day. Checkhov got 4Excellent so I can be happy enough with that. The Polish judge, as Checkhovs breeder warned me, prefered white zois so we lost before we even went into the ring.
Also if that is not enough, I couldn't show Checkhov because I fell badly in the bath yesterday hurting my back side and shoulder so I asked a semi-professional handler, Mr Geert Govaerts of Kennel Dom As Goscha to show him for me, sadly to no avail. Thank you very much Geert for being prepared to do this for me

Hopefully I should be back in form in 3 weeks time so I will show him in Kortrijk.

I was also able to admire one of the Dom As Goscha pups, Jiriz Jidze

Belgian Borzoi Club Special
On 26th September Checkhov received 1 Excellent in the Open Class under Mrs Linda Worthy (GB) at the annual Belgian Borzoi Club Special. He beat 3 older dogs to achieve this.
Sadly in the afternoon he did not receive the CAC as Mrs Worthy found that he needs to mature a little more before he is worthy of the accolade. To have achieved this would have been the cherry on the top of the cake but I am very proud of what he did achieve.

Thank you very much Mrs Worthy for the glowing critique and the lovey gift.
The winners of each class received a beautifully made bar of soap with a borzoi head on it as a small gift from Mrs Worthy and made by Mrs Lorraine Harvey.
This is a unique occurence over here and I think that the winning participants appreciated it.

Show Rotterdam
Today Checkhov and I went to the show in Rotterdam. He got 3 Excellent, I'm really happy with this result as he was the youngest dog in the class and to come 3rd out of 5 dogs I think is very commendable.
He also received a very nice critique from Mr J-J Dupas (Fr.)

The Critique
Very good size. Well balanced. Masculine head but not heavy. Dark eyes. Excellent ears. Excellent neck. Nice topline. Good angulation behind. Excellent coat. Feet a bit long. Correct movement

Show Mechelen
We were present again this year in Mechelen at one of the nicest and friendliest dog shows in Belgium.
On Saturday 21/08 Checkhov attained 2 Excellent in the Open Class under the very experienced judge Mr. Jean-Jacques Dupas (Fr).

Brabo Show Antwerpen

At the Brabo Show in Antwerp on 1st May, Checkhov received 1 Very Good under judge Mr. Louis Dehaes (B). He also received his certificate for 'Permission to Breed'. Although an Excellent would have been much nicer, I can't complain, Checkhov has had to learn to relax in the ring and to show again after the debacle in Genk earlier this year. Now upwards and onwards.

Amborix Trophy Genk 13/02/2010

At the Amborix Trophy in Genk, Checkhov received an Adequate from the Belgian judge Mrs L. De Ridder-Onghena (Be).

After being told to get our dogs ready to go in the ring first thing in the morning, then having it postponed to 12.30 only to have it again postponed to 14.00hrs Checkhov was tired and fed up of in and out the kennel, not being able to sleep quietly etc and then if that was not enough the judge scared the life out of him by hanging over his head with her chip scanning apparatus, so he neither let me show his teeeth nor did he run in the ring as he should and as we know he can.

This woman after scaring another 2 dogs with her machine subsequently said "I will judge your dog first and scan him after, as I see that some dogs are scared of this" This of course was no help to us and I only hope that Checkhov will not react badly in the future
