Runningbeardog Kesa's first litter, April 30, 2009
Meet the pups and their new families!
Kesa delivered her first litter in the wee hours of the morning, on Thursday, April 30th. She has 3 adorable pups, two handsome boys and one beautiful little girl.
The puppies names are all from Finnish Mythology. The first born boy's name is "Tapio" who was the God of the Forest, which is a fitting name for a KBD, a dog of nature. To visit Tapio's photo album click on the menu at the left or click HERE!
The second boy's name is "Sampo". A Sampo is a magical artifact that brings good fortune to it's holder. We're sure that Sampo's new family agrees! To see Sampo's photo album, click on the menu at the right or click HERE!
Last born was a beautiful little girls we call "Seide", who was the Lapland (northern Finland) God of Stones and Rocks. We like the name, and besides, stones and rocks are in our life in more ways than one......my husband Gary is a stone mason, our house's foundation sits on a solid rock ledge, and we have bluffs all around us that the dogs love to climb. To visit Seide's photo album, click on the menu on the left, or click HERE!
Now in their new homes, Tapio's new name is Sako, so named for the Finnish rifle, a favorite of his new owner.

Our great nieces were here for a 10 day visit just prior to the puppies going to their new homes. What a great time everyone had!
Runningbeardog's Sako made the long journey to his wonderful new family in Wasilla, Alaska. His new Daddy John is retiring soon and will be working with Alaska Fish and Game, and guess who his partner will be? What a wonderful life for a beardog! John says that Sako is a brave little beardog, and shows great promise even at this young age. Sako has a wonderful new mommy Barb, and a new big sister and brother too, as well as two canine siblings.

Sampo's new home is in North Carolina, with his new daddy Alex and mommy Nadia, who drove all the way up here to take him home with them. He also has a new canine companion, Karat, a Finnish Spitz. Sampo will get to hunt with his new dad, and also hike in the mountains with his wonderful new family. Sampo is extremely intelligent, a thinker, and learns very quickly. W'e're sure he will be the star of his beginner obedience training class!

Seide lives with her new mommy Phyllis and daddy Mike in Illinois, but will also be the protector of their property and cabin in the U.P. Lucky for us, we will get to see her and her family occasionally! Seide is a spunky, fun loving dynamo like her Mommy Kesa. She has three feline brothers and sisters that are her playmates. Phyllis and Mike came for a visit a few weeks before the puppies were ready to go to their new home, and returned to pick Seide up when she was 10 weeks old. She's loved very much by her wonderful new family and a very lucky little girl!

Awwwwe, isnt she sweet? Siede cocks her head to the side when you talk to her, just like her Daddy Sisu and Grandma Kukka do!
