WELCOME!
This website will introduce you to our wonderful Karelian Beardogs, Rebel's Pikku Lummekukka (Kukka),  Bjornehuset's Lasse ( ILO),  and  Runningbeardog's Summer Sun, Kesa, daughter of Kukka and Ilo from our own breeding.
Known for their independence, intelligence,  keen hunting and tracking ability and loyalty to their owner, the KBD originated in Finland. During the Finnish/Russian war they were used as scouts to scent out Russian troops, and were threatened with extinction as they were killed by snipers.  It is said that at one time less than 40 remained, and they are still considered a rare breed today.
Our KBD's are members of our family and protectors both at home, and on the trail.  Please scroll down to meet them, and read more on our pages and links to learn more about the KBD!

Keep scrolling down to meet our KBD's!

Kesa a beautiful Karelian Bear Dog, and is from Kukka and Ilo's first litter.  She is registered with the United Kennel Club, and AKC Foundation Stock.  As with all of our KBD's Kesa has been health tested for both eyes and hips, and is certified hips normal by OFA and eyes clear with CERF exam.
We are planning Kesa's first litter for spring 2009.   The daddy to her puppies will likely be a beautiful KBD import to Canada, Bjornehusets Samson (Sisu). You can see him on our Sisu's visit page.

Ilo is registered with the Danish Kennel Club, the United Kennel Club and AKC Foundation Stock.

Kukka's sire and dam were Canadian imports from Denmark.  Kukka's dam was from Kennel Bjornehusets and her sire from Kennel Elgbjorn.  Kukka is registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, the United Kennel Club and AKC Foundation Stock.

Kukka has had her last litter, and will now concentrate on being a great granny to Kesa's litter coming in 2009, as well as continuing to be a much loved and valued member of the family.
Kukka says,"We love messages!"

Please leave a message in our guestbook, we love mail!
