Karelian Bear Dog -- Bjornehusets Lasse (Ilo) October, 2008
ILO Lasse--Prince of Karelian Beardogs
ILO Lasse came to Michigan from Denmark in June of 2004. Upon arrival, he tried to tell his new playmate, Kukka, that he was the "King of Denmark"! She said hmmmmm, that's nice, but I am the "Queen of the USA" and guess what, you live here now! It was finally agreed that because Ilo's sire, Bjornehusets Rambo, was the king of Karelians in Denmark that Ilo would have to be the "Crown Prince of Denmark", which we affectionately call him today. Ilo's dam is Bjornehusets Tassi. He has many Danish family and friends that love him, and followed his move to Michigan. Ilo has a wonderful temperment, very loving and spunky at the same time. He is always exploring to find something new and intesting, and loves visitors to his home. Sometimes you can see him sitting and watching, absorbing what is going on around him, his mind working. What interesting thing will I find next? Ilo was the social star of puppy class, loving the other ladies there, both animal and human. But if the need arises, he will stand tall and protect, chasing off any threat there may be, taking his responsibility seriously to protect his family. Loving, gentle, brave and daring all in one beautiful Karelian package. OFA Hips: KB-19E40M-PI Excellent CERF: KB-128/2006--12 eyes clear
**Ilo is triple registered with the Dansk Kennel Club (Denmark) and the United Kennel Club, and the Canadian Kennel Club. He, along with Kukka, were the first Karelians recorded in the Foundation Stock Service program of the American Kennel Club.

Karelian Bear Dog, Rebels Piiku Lummekukka
Kukka, Karelian Bear Dog Queen of the USA
Kukka's sire is Ch. Elgbjorns Kaksi Lajki (Denmark) and her Dam is Ch. Bjornehusets Heidi (Denmark). Both are Canadian champions. Kukka loves visitors to our home. If company should come, Kukka will bark if she's not greeted promptly, after all, isn't she the reason that they came? She loves her human companions, and always seems to have a smile. Kukka takes her responsibility to keep her space clear of squirrels, chippees, mice or any other trespassers that might invade it, seriously. She will wait patiently for hours for them to peek their heads out of the rocks or from between the roots of a tree, quiet as a mouse. It's only when she sees her game that you can tell by her bark what kind of prey she has found. Kukka loves hiking the trails of Upper Michigan, and is always ready for the next adventure. When the hiking boots and backpacks come out she waits patiently by the van, knowing it won't be long before we're on a trail somewhere, one of her favorite things.
OFA: KB-15G46F-PI CERF: KB-127/2006--48 eyes clear
**Kukka is dual registered with the Canadian Kennel Club and the United Kennel Club. Kukka, along with Ilo, were also the first KBD's recorded in the American Kennel Club FSS.

Runningbeardog's Kesa
Photo from March 4, 2009
Runningbeardog's Kesa was born on June 16, 2005, the last of 5 pups in our Kukka and Ilo's first litter. As a young pup, Kesa was always very brave and daring and loved being the leader of her siblings in a game of chase or follow-the-leader. Their puppy kingergarden included a minature agility course, and she discovered it was great fun to to go to high places where not everyone would follow her. Kesa has learned well from her mommy and daddy, and is a great hunter, as well as protector both at home and on the trail.
We are planning Kesa's next litter for fall of this year, 2010.
Kesa is dual Registered with The United Kennel Club and AKC Foundation Stock.
